Best video part of all-time
« on: September 25, 2020, 03:33:03 AM »
There are many great parts, but there can only be one that is the best.  In my contention, that is Heath Kirchart’s Mind Field part.

Filming, skating and music all come together to create a multi-media masterpiece of skate art.

If you know one better, I’d like to watch it.  Post a link for me...

I love how he airs over the lamppost in the background on both of the first tricks in that part

One of these would be my choice however. Probably the former

The skating is flawless, the nostalgia factor, the music, the edit. Masterpiece.

Has to be.

I remember I got the VHS watched it, then went to meet up at the spot with the boys are tried to explain what I watched. We all booked it back to my place and watched it. The session we had after the video was one of the funnest I can remember.

Penny in High Five was the same feeling, like what the hell did I just watch.

if "unexpected" is a heavy factor, then PJLWHL may be the one. PJ wasn't completely unheard of when it came out, but I don't think he was well known either. I was pretty obsessed with skateboarding at that time and only remember seeing a couple random tricks of his from a Tampa Am contest in 411 maybe? Add the fact that it was a Skateshop video and it's definitely a contender.

Best Video Part of all time is hard to nail down though when you consider ~30 years of video parts. It's like picking the GOAT skater.

I’d push back on that a little, actually.  I’m guessing you and I are close in age, since I was around for Video Days, too.  First of all, I have to say that is an awesome Gonz part, no doubt.  I love it, too.  But, I don’t personally believe the best part came from my era.

My point is... I started skating in 1987, but I think the best part of all-time didn’t drop until 2009.  And I don’t think it’s been topped since.  So, age doesn’t necessarily determine the answer to this question.  At least, not for me.

I know my question is very subjective.  But, I’m really digging seeing everyone’s opinions on this.  So many killer clips to watch.

I take care of my curbs.

First thought was Ricky in EE3 but since that’s been mentioned I would like to throw this out there.

The correct answer is Gonz or PJ. The pinnacle of creativity, technicality, variety, and making it all look fun.
I thought it wasnt just him solo, shouldve stuck with my og thought.

I don't like doing one but kind of by era's sort of

Hensley Hokus Pokus
Gonz Video Days
Duffy Questionable
Guy Mouse

Those were ground breaking

After that I like PJ and Jerry in Bag of Suck but I really think this is amazing. Mirror tricks so long ago ...and good ones . I feel like he was in some type of zone during this time :)
