Bon Appetit! turned me onto Granddaddy and more importantly Ween... Very thankful for that.
Aaron, the drummer from Grandaddy sold me my first skateboard a long, long time ago. All those guys skate.

Shit man, my musical taste was built from surfing / bbing and skate videos...... as somebody stated, it was music you didnt find in MTV, I went from Blink 182 and Backstreet Boys to Black Flag and Classic rock and really underground hip hop.... geeeeez dont wann sound like a dick or anything but those were the days, you had to put time into things, nowadays theyre just clicks away, but you also have to navigate thru a lot of shit to find the good stuff today, kinda bummer

Introducing me to new music is one of my favorite aspects of skateboarding.  I discovered Dinosaur jr, The Cocteau Twins, Jurassic 5, Souls of Mischief,  My Bloody Valentine, Placebo, Pulp, Interpol, Primus, Cymande and so many others.  It also led to my appreciation of jazz.  Skateboarding doesn't owe me shit but I owe it so much.

One time I played a show with this band Holy Wave from Austin and before the show we were talking about MBV and I said that the "You made me realise" EP is better than Loveless and is the best MBV release and this dude literally freaked the fuck out on me and the entire band wouldn't talk to me the rest of the night  :-X  i stand by that statement.

shoutouts to Brad Cromer for that nice MBV deep cut!

Had this in my head all day today

When nothing in society deserves respect, we should fashion for ourselves in solitude new silent loyalties.

from

while cool-guying is a real phenomenon, studies show that 83% of all cool-guying incidents can be attributed to the cool-guyee being an awkward weirdo
