Absolutely amazing documentary covering NYC 1987-1997. It'll be out soon.

yup, i rented it on vimeo. it’s good, the audio mixing is a little bit off sometimes though, hard to understand what they’re saying over the music playing in the background. still one of the better skateboard documentaries i’ve seen (and i’ve seen most if not all of them), jeremy did a great job of combining the hip hop aspect and the skateboarding into one cohesive whole.

Isn’t this guy a Canadian pretending to be a New Yorker?
I liked his skate films, Elephant Direct was pretty good and still holds up.

I did but didn’t finish it cause it was mainly covering the clubs and music scene at first, short attention span

Saw in a theater in glendale.  Good film, definitely a bit too niche if youre not much of a hip hop or skate head, it kinda toggles between the subjects fluidly.  Sorta documents how influential the skate scene in new york became in the 90’s to the broader culture. Eli Gesner’s nine club episode is a pretty great companion, since his interviews were edited to make him the narrator of the film.  His camcorder footage and the archival they pull is full of gold. I wiil say I watched his nine club the day before seeing ATSAS and enjoyed it easily as much as the film itself.

respect to all involved in making this and I will watch it in the future because i lived in and cherish those times with my life but honestly, creating something from this time for the current generation and current day times is fruitless and almost sacrilege. anyone younger than 30 who has watched it forgot everything about it an hour later.

It was good. Some of the footage has already been used in "From Deathbowl to Downtown". If you dug deathbowl, you'll prolly love it. You could have a trilogy night by adding the H Jumonji doc, or really Kids for that matter.

Anyways, Hamilton Harris has doc called THE KIDS coming out and it's on how tjey felt exploited by the clarke and korine in the long run, for example getting paid very little etc.  He already aired it at a film festival, I think he's probably hoping for some distribution deals.
