this is a good advice and something i need to start doing.  chasing a good session the day after always bums me out and puts me on the verge of getting hurt/focusing my board

+2 on meditation.  i have Headspace and I try to do a 10 min meditation before everytime I skate.  i definitely feel worse if I forget to do it

I think OP’s premise is fair, particularly for someone who skates all or most of their teenage years. The habits you build at that age can be very formative. I wouldn’t be surprised if the unhealthy habits we build up as kids chasing stoke catch up as behavioral problems later on. I’m 25 myself and find myself unlearning the shitty habits of my teenage self every day.

I’ll definitely be checking back in on this thread. Love the conversation happening here

It's absolutely true. Started skating around 14, and considering hormones, formative years, access to porn and the early days of social media, it can really get to your head. I try to not eat like shit before I go skate, I'll bring plenty of water and Gatorade with me so I'm hydrated throughout the session. My main problem is the dopamine rush and my ADHD when I skate. When I skate, my brain won't let me slow down. I have to be moving around and doing something when I skate. I can wait my turn to do my trick but if I'm alone, I'm burned out within an hour from constantly skating around. Porn and social media addiction are real as well. I won't go into the porn stuff too much but it's still a habit I'm trying to get rid of and I often find myself constantly scrolling social media due to my own anxiety and for the next nice video or picture.
