Haunted by bad near slams?
« on: November 09, 2020, 08:11:10 AM »
I suppose I need to write this down to shake it off, as I already feel it will haunt me. Skated my local park this morning, which consists of two bowls right next to each other, a mini bowl and a larger one with deep end.

I rolled in into the mini bowl as setup for going manual on top of the other side, around a corner between the two bowls. I almost wiped out on the roll in going a bit too fast, missed the manual, and turned around to the gang yelling how scary that felt, completely blanking about the large bowl I was rolling up to.

Only noticed it when my front wheels were just about to hit the coping, and jumped off into the deep end. Nothing happened, but after laughing it off I got crazy anxious about would could have happened. Getting stuck on the coping and being launched into the deep end looking backwards.

Scary shit, I've skated that park for 10 years and should have known better, but apparently was completely oblivious in that moment. On the bright side, I have one down for the history books at that park, everyone was losing their shit over how funny it looked to see that old, tall dude jump off into the void.
