They'd never put this one up. This is peak Carroll, and that first line is ridiculous. Plus, the guest tricks are amazing.

Is Scott Johnston’s 180 to switch crooks the trick of the video?   It has my vote
[close]
Probably, although BA's bs tail of the UCI Hubba was fucked.

Oh I agree but just everything about that SJ clip is perfect.  I love when you get perfect marriage of skating to filming

At first I was a bit disappointed : lots of bails, the part is quite short and as a Hsu fan.... but then I remembered Jerry’s stance and I realized the whole part was switch.

Also this is the part that doesn’t embellish being a pro, all the bails / battles / temper tantrums at the beginning are not glamourized, you can see the guy is on the edge, he’s falling like a rag doll and seems exhausted by skateboarding.
[close]
I don’t know how to say this because the guy’s an amazing skater and his accomplishments are very impressive. But some people, him being one, just make me pro skateboarding isn’t really a good thing. I remember when Nyjah cracks his head in that Nike part trying a switch front feeble at Hollywood High and my first thought was - is this worth it? And why have an industry that encourages people to break themselves so they can do slightly harder tricks than the last guy who skated that spot?  I’d be stoked enough on Jerry’s lower impact skating.

I totally agree with you, I just wanted to say that the way it was edited doesn’t make the battles cool to me. When I watched the part when it came out, it didn’t make me want to destroy myself trying tricks. The part as a « dark » that made me love it after watching it multiple times.

I first saw this part in 1997 and at the time when handrail skating was starting to really take off it reminded me that low impact skating was fun.  Rikk will always be one of my favorites.

This might be my all time favorite part.  Cory was something special and the part isn't full of blown out California spots.

This is big baby jesus and I had a really hard time picking one part. Ricky in EE3, HUF in Penal Code, aaron Herrington or JJ in static IV were all contenders but my favorite part that gets me hyped to skate is Scott Johnson in Mad Circles Let The Horns Blow. Skating is timeless and the song choice is perfect.

god level pick. Pepe Martinez's part in Fine artists also needs a mention.

just looked through thrashers classic and saw that both brian lotti's now n later part and jovantae turner's lovechild part weren't there

That video and this part was big where I grew up - thanks for sharing. Been many years. When the Life video came out it really cemented his legend status.

This part to me is my original Pat Duffy/PJ Ladd level gut reaction "who is this guy and holy shit that's amazing". So far ahead and filmed in probably a day or two.

While I did love that vid, i think it's too early to be considered a "classic". To me that vid was yesteryear. Or maybe it's just me getting old :(

I always think how awesome this part would be without sound. I watch this part all the time but I have to watch it on mute.

I totally agree. That part/video just really holds a place in skateboarding.

A real classic:
