Ace 44 or 55?
« on: December 10, 2021, 09:34:34 AM »
I need y’alls opinion. I don’t like when the wheels aren’t flush with the board and I got this new 8.8 deck with new Ace 55s and they stick out just a tad. Would 44s have been a better choice or would they have been too small where you don’t see the wheels at all?

If you have an 8.8 with 44s and have a pic, I’d love you forever.

I think Ace 44's would've been too skinny. I think Ace AF1 55s would've been a happy medium.

Must be a fair bit of taper on that deck. Classic 55s are the closest axle length.

yea ^  plus 44's would've  been way too small imo.

Are you sure that's an 8.8? May be tapered and measured in the concave

If you haven't yet put both washers on the axle nut side. That's as close as your gonna get with Ace

Rode an 8.75 with Ace 44 classics. It was not fun at all. It felt super tippy and not at all stable. I think 55s are a must for sizes above 8.5.

Thank you all… I’ve been anxiously obsessing over little things like this lately and you’ve put my mind at ease.

Totally!

Seems like 8.75 right now is the new 8.25 sized truck that everyone was wanting, but no one made until much later.

I wonder too if those Ricta Clouds are a bit wider than some other wheels, which is why they will look like the truck is wider on the board too.

Got a few sets on some boards here or there and I liked how wide they were on those setups, but I also think once you set it up and skate it, there will be less worry about how the trucks or wheels look.

I put the board with Ace 44s on top of an 8.8 deck and they sit so far inside it was scary, so unless you want to have a super magic carpet, the 55s would work way better, as has been said.

I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

Ok

44 classics are 8.38” axle, yeah?
The 55 classics are 9” axle. Both have a lot of axle for spacers. I’ve ridden 55s on 8.5s, with not a problem. The classics have the tapered hanger so you don’t need to run any speed rings on the inside. Doesn’t sound like much, but the washers can really change the wheel position, more than I thought till I tried it.

Its not a surfy turn, but very good albeit slightly goofy looking truck.
