Brands Websites.
« on: December 07, 2020, 07:39:06 AM »
Are they still relevant?

Which ones are/were the best?

The '80s were the worst period. You had these horrible pop bands growing their hair and calling themselves metal.

I used to love when they'd release a new one with a random video part sprinkled in. This one still gets me excited to skate

Old Crail Tap site was good. I liked the columns a lot. Tito's Shampoo Lounge was always a treat.

Did MJ write those? Lots of rambling, sarcasm, drinking wine and scotch, home ownership talk, nollie 540’s, etc. That would have been early fully flared time hence the home when he got that place in the mountains with the spots in the driveway and the nollie 540 from the video. If so that guy really has some ideas, man. We may not be ready

The Crail site was so ahead of it's time back then. Hosting videos in good quality, back when youtube was 240p, quality updates, bits of info about your favourite skater. I see it as a more tasteful bit of social media. It's a shame they didn't keep it up into present times, with all the other platforms we have.

How much has Instagram changed up the way a brand website might be run too?  Or facebook or any other social media options?

Once there was the one place you would go for all the info, eg BrandX.com would be it, but now it seems if you are not following the exact account of brand X on whichever media page you would hardly know what is going on or see much from them.

I do find the good mix of information, pics, videos and product more appealing than obscure references or links to team rider personal pages.

I guess my favourite would be DLXSF.COM which has it all, but also follow all their associated insta accounts and keep an eye on other places for more info too.

I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

i used to love the tum yeto site around 2001. they had this incredible flash game on there i would play in computer class. also updated photos of product and info about team riders super often.

19 years later they have a website that is 1000x less efficient.

With that being said some brands like Thankyou, Enjoi, Emerica, Lakai, and Vans still have dope sites.
So much is taken for Ig to kinda start a brand but any heritage co should be smart enough to own a corner of the internet. Also Krooked/Dlx catalogue drops are everything. I was also on the Dgk site yesterday & it was rad

Agreed with all of this. Crailtap used to be a daily read for me, seems Instagram/Twitter really ruined blog type of websites. Damn shame.

in middle school i'd go to the world industries site - they used to have little flash movies you could watch of the little cartoon guys.
