I know this probably isn’t going to go over well, but I feel inclined to ask.

Do any of my gay/trans brothers and sisters feel secondhand embarrassment about Unity-esque graphics? Maybe it has to do with my upbringing, Dr. James Dobson was a huge influence on my parents. They also listened to Rush Limbaugh over dinner. One of the things they preached was that homosexuals don’t feel love, we only feel lust. Absolute bullshit, I love my boyfriend. But I can’t help to feel like it’s playing into their narrative and giving them ammunition

Am I a prude? Is this something I need to work on?

You have been programmed by chud media from an early age to feel ashamed about your sexuality but it's not your fault and you shouldn't feel bad about it because you are in the early stages of recognizing the hypocrisy of how heteronormative society treats depictions of homosexuality.

Here is an example as it relates to skateboarding. Klein the homophobe can appropriate and trace Hookups hentai boards featuring upskirts of naked teenage girls all he wants and horny guys still living in the 90's eat that shit up and it becomes normalized over time. But when Jeffrey creates graphics featuring naked minimalist stick figures of all genders hugging each other affectionally it's suddenly too subversive and too sexual for skateboarding.

Is there a graphic from Unity you are specifically talking about?

I've been thinking the same. I was a long-time lurker before joining and there is a definite change of tone. Still a lot of sexist shit to ignore but people do get called out for it here and there. Seeing this thread thrive is lovely.

I was under the impression that America as a whole was becoming accepting of gay and trans people. After this week I’m afraid I’m wrong

My job requires some long distance traveling, and being an hour from where I grew up, I decided to swing by home. “Sales Days” was going on, two days in which the town has an annual yard sale. Absolutely massive turn out this year. Rebel flags were flying, trump memorabilia and tshirts were everywhere and and effigy of Obama was hung in someone’s front yard

This is rural PA by the New York State boarder. Growing up things were generally conservative, but most people kept their political beliefs to themselves. Now it’s an absolute shit show of dumbassery

Can’t help but to feel things are going to boil over. I was wrong to believe things are improving. America is becoming more divided, and it’s fucking disheartening

Don't be disheartened, those people feel the need to be extra loud because they're outnumbered. Their children will rebel against them, and not all of them will be totally progressive, but they will turn from the things their parents do because it's obvious they're clinging to their fantasy so hard because they're losing. However we should not grow complacent like the liberal order of the day. We should prepare for a fight because although they are losing ground, they will still kick and scream and fight as they're dragged into the future that doesn't solely benefit them.
