as long as his overhead is low this could be a pretty profitable thing hes got going, i think, what do i know about the ins and outs of the coffee business. but theres tons of people in NY that spend more time drinking coffee and talking about going to get coffee than anything else they do so that should work out.

Coffee shops are pretty cheap to start up, and based on the amount in my city seem like they do alright. At least well enough that I don't see them going out of business all that often, despite some areas having one every couple of blocks. No idea how profitable they are, but I'd assume it's a decent small business. Location and rent are obviously key factors to success though. Labour is the most expensive cost to a shop from what I've learned, so assuming he's spending a lot of time in the shop working, it'll probably do well enough.

fucked is way, way too strong. coffee shops absolutely can be profitable, especially with the low overhead he has. merch, wholesale orders, etc, have a decent enough profit margin that he could do it.

I've talked coffee a little with him on IG. He was asking everyone for old decks for a project and I dropped off a few. Had no idea at the time what it was but they chopped them up and made the espresso bar out of it. It’s really sick you can see it’s all ply in this post.

haven’t made it there since it’s been open but definitely will soon, it looks good. To say North Brooklyn is saturated with coffee shops would be an understatement, but doesn’t mean another one can’t kill it if done right.
