Pedro Barros vert appreciation
« on: January 19, 2021, 01:19:44 PM »
A look back at when Pedro first hit the scene as a teenager going big in vert ramp competitions. Huge airs and 540s, but usually not a deep enough bag of tricks to podium but regardless he was a thrill to watch.

Haven't heard this name in a long time. He was the 3rd guy to do the 900 right? I was too young to appreciate him when he was in all the contests but those airs were massive.

Still kills. The kickflip near the end is almost as crazy as Mason’s famine flip at Tampa.

Sandro Dias was third guy to land the 900 (the first to do it with a backside grab) and he did it in competition as well. After him, Alex Perelson landed a 900, first try, at the Maloof Money cup.

I think his new Free Dome part video will create some renewed interest.

I'd like to see more proper vert parts. Vert skaters are skating pools and bowls too much.

I think he’s great, I’d love to be wrong about SLAP having an anti-Brazilian bias

I’m with you, Pedro is rad and Brazilian vert skating has a cool pedigree.  I’ll just chuckle if this thread keeps slowly transforming into a pro-Brazilian vert skater mini-circle jerk.

There is one Dew Tour or something where he’s just linking tricks and pops onto the platform, cuts behind the filmer and ollies his power cables and casually continues his run of destruction

This thread reminded me of this video, not only Pedro and not only Vert, but still pretty fucking cool, I watched it a lot a few years ago. The raw footage is even better cause you can see the guys fucking around and ripping on that wooden bowl. The line in 3:46 also shows why Pedro is one of the GOAT in my opinion.

Damn I feel like an idiot. Thanks for dropping this knowledge.
