If you go into the upcoming shoes thread, a bunch of people have talked about the OG-1s but they don’t have much positive to say TBH
Those people are idiots, it’s just funny to me, before these shoes got dropped, so many people were praising the return of these shoes, now they they are out, the younger dunk generation is talking complaining about how these are terrible.
Let me say that I got a pair of these OG 1’s, they fit great(fixed the sizing I think), skate great (great toe box for kickflips), and look great (simple navy shoe), I’m not just saying that because a older head, but because sometimes it’s nice to not look like every kid at the park with blazers and dunks on, and especially when all the remakes out there are so bulky and insane, these are the proper mix of classic and wearable without looking like there are bricks on your feet
The only real issue and I say this with a bias of loving Emerica shoes and skating them a lot over the years: is the lack of the foam or EVA midsole that was originally promised.
That can be a make or break for people, and that's totally valid. However, not having it doesn't mean the rest of the shoe is shit automatically. It's just not as good as it COULD be if it did have the midsole instead of full rubber.
The quality on the OG-1 is solid. Suede, stitching, mesh, shape, laces, all of it looks & feels as if it was built well. For $95 in the current inflated economy, that's not too unrealistic of a price, given what it's offering.
I own the white/red pair and they feel comfortable on foot! I'm considering getting the navy one soon and skating that one.
For anyone that may want to skate the OG-1 but is worried about the lack of EVA midsole, the insole is the standard one in all their G6 cupsoles. You can swap in a G6, STI, FP, probably Popcush, State, etc. insole to achieve a desired comfort/support combo. The inside of the shoe is voluminous enough to do this. All is not lost on this shoe.
