Well, when you put it that way, all of them.

You and the D00D have turned this thread into a horrible head-on-collision between a short bus full of regular kids and a van full of paraplegics.

Snowboarder; mountains are awesome.
I could still feel boardslides.
Riding bikes makes my knees lock up and the ocean is great but I don’t wanna be out there in it that often.
I’m a fat Siamese cat.

Snow for the money.

Surf for the beach lifestyle and warm weather.

I´d rather be a prosurfer than a proskater at this point. That said I can´t surf for shit but I love trying everytime I have the chance to (landlocked country).

And to answer your question. Surf. Salty, sandy, delicious.

I love surfing and surf weekly. I am just about to place an order for a new board. However, I hate surfers so could never be around them all day. I also love snowboarding but never do it and ski resorts suck. BMXers are tough. I am not.

So I am going to select none of those options. I'd like to be an astronaut or an actress- isn't that what Antwaun said in an interview?

how easy is it to get hurt surfing as a pro? I will base it purely off of how easy it is to get hurt. I have never surfed in my life but i have always wanted to try it but i live too far from any sort of surfing happening. never even seen someone doing it irl and im almost 35. oh thats a lie i saw people doing it in Munich Germany in this tiny little river thing that was like an endless wave wall and i watched for like 3 or 4 hours straight. it looked fun as hell. ppl even do it in the winter time.

I think BMX is the worst payout to slam factor out of any of these up for discussion. immediately i think its off the table for me its just way too gnar.

Snowboaridng you make a lot of money but you also need to do fucking insane amounts of gnar to stand out in that fashion show. id never make it. at least the slams are on snow but you are still going BMX speeds but your feet are at least attached to it (can fuck you over harder if you make mistakes, but i think mistakes are harder to make in general) i still dont think you are walking away from being a pro without multiple surgeries

Compared to snowboarding, BMX and skateboarding, surfing is relatively risk free day to day. However, the ocean is not to be fucked with and when things go wrong in big surf it can be terrifying.

The biggest risk in surfing is watching your blood pressure rise when dealing with other surfers.

If only I could surf with Elissa, Chico and Danny Dicola and not hundreds of Portland kooks snd aggro seaside locals.

Can we yo-yoing to the list?  I can sense that’s poised for a big comeback.

Haha! My buddy grew up surfing in that area, and has definitely expressed how aggro things used to be when he was out there. Especially the late 80s/early 90s.

Surfer for sure, especilly if you're on some good companies.  Surf/skate related companies like Volcom/Vans/Quicksilver pay way more to surfers than skaters.  Travel the world's best beaches, and the ladies will take a pro surfer at the beach any day rather than a crusty sweaty skater who's spent the day at a DIY under a bridge in Philly, Detroit,  or somewhere.

Surfer. Warm weather, you get in great shape. The downsides are crowds in the water and drowning.

Snowboarding would be cool if you did that backcountry shit. Spinning to win in terrain parks with 14 year olds would be hell.

Shit, assuming you’re pro you’d have to go big to pay the bills right?
Thing about biking and snowboarding is they all go fucking big, there is no low impact market for these.
I’d probably say surfing, and not that big wave or short boarding shit, nose riding looks way more chill.

I don’t think many snowboarders are making a lot of money.  Shawn white did, but it’s about the same as skating.  Lots of pros with 4 roommates and no car.
Also snow in terrain parks is not soft.  It can get soft when it’s warm but underneath is basically ice.  Not soft.  Def a little more margin for error in landing but I can attest(compression fracture 3 vert after falling 20 or so feet on to my lower back/ass) that’s it’s about as hard as frozen ground.

My favorite things about snowboarding is being able to ride up the lift and be in nature where it is pretty quiet, usually when you are in the middle of the lift's path and far away from the machines at the top and bottom of the run.

Also, you are basically power sliding down a mountain.  I can't backside power slide for shit on a skateboard but on a snowboard it is easy and feels great.
