I don't get the numbers hate?

I know it is/was partly run by Koston who you all seem to hate.

But the team was solid and it is run by two legends.

Art direction isn't the best but it's far from lame.

Like how can you hate on numbers then support the lamest culture killers in skateboarding such as Supreme , Nike etc

To say they did nothing is a bit a unfair

This was all in the span of 2 and a half years. That's still more than what some companies have done in the last decade.

You're right that the art direction wasn't lame, but it just didn't make you feel much. Sleek gradients and minimalist geometric patterns look cool, but don't make you feel much.

Plus it didn't even match Koston, the biggest name on the brand. His brand is goofball, not "cool".

I wasn't a big fan of their logo...but their team was top notch, the graphics were trippy and I'm glad to have some numbers decks in my Mariano and Tx collections.

It felt directionless. The same issue with 3D previously. It had some very talented riders, run by a legend (and in Numbers case 2 legends). Koston is still one of my favorite skaters of all time despite him being a spazz on social media and a bit cringe. They just never created a cohesive image. All the guys just felt like they had a board sponsor but were all off doing separate things.

Putting Koston and Guy aside, the lineup they once had with Miles Silvas, Antonio Durao, Magnus, and Kyron is a fucking insane team, all young as fuck too.

Numbers is proof that your team can be bonkers talented and it will still fail if you don't have a cohesive brand idea

I have to admit, reading that interview where Koston said that The Gonzo sent him that screencap "12:45 Numbers" made him go all in on the name - made me think "just because Gonz said it, doesn't mean its a good idea". Plus, Mariano saying "its Numbers Skateboards" and Koston correcting him with "Numbers Edition" made me have 0 hope for this.

Anywho, if it ends, I could see Mariano on Krooked, FA, or even back on Girl (with "welcome back" ad featuring the "welcome Back Kotter" theme, complete with Spike Jonze skits).
