i skated a plaid pair of krux once because my teenage self really liked louie barletta. what’s the dumbest trucks you’ve skated and how did you end up with them?

When I got back into skating, I bought Nora Krux trucks on sale at Zumiez (yes, I know) for $18/pair after tax. Turned terribly. Eventually scooped up some Aces and I've been nothing but happy since.

I am not sure Krux should be lumped in here? In the early 2ks Krux were a legit brand with a legit team. I mean maybe they still are? I don't really know. They skated pretty damn good too. Whaley rips.

Kreper, Tensor, Grind King were far more gimmicky. Krux were just good, normal, second tier trucks.
ok thanks

My first trucks were GKs, second trucks were some Tensors with the plastic sliders, then I got into Krux. I skated Krux downlows so much as a kid and I don’t know why because those things fucking sucked and I knew it. I guess those whacky designs and the holes in the hangers really grabbed me. Once I skated my first pair of Thunders around age 15 I realized how good trucks could be and never looked back to the likes of Krux/Tensor/GK/Kreeper etc

I got some “diamond” krux in like 2004 when I was 14 bc I thought it was funny and cool. They broke p quickly.

I had tensors from a neighborhood hand me down board, hated em.

I think I had Monster trucks too that glowed in the dark. Honestly have no idea what happened to them.

Tensor ATG mag lights are buttery and I have a set on a board now for crusty curbs. No shame, I love em.

I'm another dipshit in his mid- to late-30s who had the Tensors with the stupid plastic thing on the baseplate that got busted out almost instantly from doing noseslides and tailslides.

I've tried most truck brands just to try. The only ones I really did not like were indy.

In 1997 I wanted Ventures to go with my newly purchased Bo Turner slick. I was very short on funds and ended up buying a set of Unit Trucks because they had a hanger that looked vaguely like Ventures and they were all I could afford. I could have just waited another week and had the money, but I was impatient and dumb. Those trucks sucked and were crap.

Wont let me embed but here is a link to what they looked like:

I have a pair of Monster trucks on a cruiser. Maybe ironic, since their turn isn't great. I would love a pair of kreeper trucks if anybody's holding! They'd make for a hilarious setup.

Krux lows with polka dots. And I used them with riser pads! I skated them very loose, but they wouldn‘t turn. I liked them somehow. Then I discovered Bowl skating and never bought them again.

Interesting. What didn't you like about the indy's?

I definitely had a pair of grind kings in middle school. I don't think anyone really knows what's up with that shit until they've been skating and weighing more than 130lbs.

I have a buddy who doesn't skate much at all anymore but whose got some tensors on his 7.5. He was into the goth thing as a kid and definitely skated Kreepers on a Lib Tech until we were 20 or so. Dude could actually skate too

Tensors are pretty much garbage. What's wrong with Krux, though? Aren't they made by the same people that make Independents?

Back when I had a vendetta against turning, I skated Tensor lows with the yellow plastic slider piece.

What's funny is now Tensors (ATG) are fine and Krux are the ones that don't turn.

I skated the same pair of orion's I got on an aws complete for like 4 or 5 years. They honestly weren't bad.

I have a set of Royals on a cruiser.  I got them crazy cheap when Crail was doing some kind of clearance sale.  They're not bad for just skating to the store and stuff.

I bought a pair of these powder blue royals with like a flower wallpaper pattern on them because they matched a BA Girl deck with the same type of design that I had bought.  Did not like.

Get hungry on it!

Really? I didn't like the feel of tensors back when I rode them. I've been using Indys and Krux ever since (mostly indy).

I skated some hand me down tensors with the slide plate remember wanting to skate them after watching round 3, don’t remember how they skated, I was at that young stage where it didn’t matter. Also had some krux DLs that I got on sale at a skate park.  Same story don’t really recall exactly how they skate and don’t remember having a problem with them.

I’ve also skated a pair of Monster trucks lol but never keeper

I bought a pair of Krux for under $15 and skated them twice before I gave them away.

I bought a pair of Royals for $10 and skated them twice.

I bought Mini Logo trucks for $30 and then bought a second pair.  Best cheap trucks out there - although I'm mainly on Indy ti or forged, or Ace on my big setup.

I mostly skate Indy and Ace these days, but I’ve got a recent set of Tensor 5.0’s and they’re fine trucks.  Nothing wrong with them at all.  They’re really lightweight and stable feeling, imo.

Can’t speak to their past quality issues, but they seem okay these days.
What's going on over at https://skate2junkies.proboards.com/ ???

I had a pair of Furys and a pair of Royals in my younger years. Other than that, it’s been nothing but Ventures and Indys. I did try some Thunder 147 hollow lights recently and they were so low I couldn’t skate them with 53s and I don’t live in California, so, I’m probably going to donate them to someone.

I had G&S trucks, Trackers and Orions. As far as I remember I never had many complaints except for the odd broken kingpin but then that was 25 years ago so I don‘t remember that much anymore. At least I am not traumatized  ;D

I grew up skating several pairs of silvers s-class... looking back they were essentially venture low knockoffs with better stock bushings.
