Oldest Must See Video (for the younger generation)
« on: February 22, 2021, 12:25:08 PM »
What's the oldest video that the kids at the park or your own kids need to look up and watch even though it came out years before they were born?

I would say Bones Brigade Video Show.  Lot of important skate significance.  Coming up on 40 years old.  Should watch it just to see Rodney's kickflip.

Shackle me Not or Hokus Pokus. They were both before my time, but when I watched them I felt that that's were modern street skating came from: Gaps, longer rails, flip tricks, combos, etc.

the youger generation most likely cannot sit through a whole skate video anymore. that being said, a visual sound and video days are some they should watch. theres too much "tricks" and not enough "skating" nowadays.

came to post these. compared to the powell videos, gullwing, g&S pretty much every other videos from that era those 2 were so much Korean relatable.  those early world videos were also amazing

I'm almost 29 yo, I always show daewon stuff, or MJ on seven steps to heaven, shit like that just to prove that everything was already done in the 90s, and explaining how style matters and these giroud jock skaters are doing it kinda wrong

always works!

I dont think stuff older than that will make kids care, they grow very used to HD or well filmed stuff, same with tricks/style

going older than 94~ is too hipster, if the kid is really interested he will look for it, our job is just to make the skate seed work inside them

Alva -Out of Focus is a 90's gem, feels like a proto anithero video.  Not the oldest or must seeable, but older and worth watching son.

There was an interview with TK, when he was a plumber. He got asked if he gets recognized on the job and his response was "No. Plumbin in disguise." Everyone on SLAP thought he said "put him in the sky"

I used to serve at a pretentious bookstore cafe and would always put on old videos to get through the shifts of young people who "own this city" and tip like shit. Now 'n' Later and Useless Wooden Toys are two that would actually get random hobos and young kids amped. I'd also put on Skate and Destroy since there is a lot of good Boston footage in that video.
