Replica/Fake Sneaker Help
« on: February 25, 2021, 02:03:14 PM »
I was looking to resell a pair of Jordan 4s I bought a year ago, but on second look they’re not legit.   I thought they passed the tests I found online when I got them, but that’s beyond the point now.  I’m a little too past the point to do anything about it refund-wise so I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what to do with replica sneakers (or than just eat shit)?   Thanks

How much did they cost you? And what color are they?

What do you currently consider your options are for what to do with these fake sneakers?

They’re the travis Scott air Jordan 4s in light blue.  Don’t give a shit about him, but dug the colorway.   Wanted to sell them because I ended up never wearing them.   They cost me enough that I thought they were legit, but looking at prices I should have been aware that they weren’t expensive enough.  I don’t really have any options or ideas what to do with them other than keep them, but like I said, I didn’t really wear them before

There is somewhat of a market for selling replicas (if they're good enough) on Depop. I look around for Jordans there from time to time and some sellers will list replicas of high profile shoes like the Travis Scott 4's (or 1's, for another example), Bred Highs, etc. The replicas are expensive, but considerably cheaper than authentic pairs. They just say something like "price reflects authenticity/quality," or however you'd choose to phrase it.

Not sure if this is limited only to Depop or if it's happening on other reselling platforms, and I have no idea what to charge for em. I guess it depends on how good the fakes are... but I think there are people out there who will settle for a good fake over paying full resale prices.

^^^that's actually cool.

I wish you the best with your replica sneakers, Atiba Applebum. We all get fooled from time to time and it's crazy there's a whole black market for counterfeit goods. I used to see a lot of fake skate stuff in L.A.'s The Alley when I went there.

I guess you have something that can be worn by you for at least one stylish, stylish night out in a worst case scenario when things open back up.  Make sure to take some pictures for the memories of when you painted the town red in your Travis Scott Air Jordan 4s, if you do.

Thanks @Urtripping and @EdLawndale for the help.  That’s good advice on depop.

Unfortunately it’s a size 11.

Goat, Stock X and eBay won't take them obviously. You could sell them on OfferUp but I would mention that they are fake. Skating them sounds like the best option.

For future reference, you can look up SKU numbers on Goat to make sure the shoes are real.

Give it to someone in need if you aren't going to wear them!

just list them as fakes. People collect those as well.

Yeah I wanted to but some places don’t let you sell “counterfeit” items, I was trying to source out places that don’t give a shit and depop looks promising.   I read an article about some Reddit thread that’s a big replica community, but it seems a little difficult to parse how to get in there as a seller

Def a consideration, but I live in LA and there is somewhat of a worry of something happening to someone wearing those.   It’s not obvious to a bystander that they aren’t legit and I wouldn’t want anyone getting jacked over it.

Turn them into some serious beaters.  Cut the grass, wear them in the rain, wear them to paint.  A few skate sessions, you have nothing to lose at this point.

Id rather support revive than support counterfeit goods. Use em as beaters or just donate. Always the answer

I’m good on the suggestions to use them as beaters or just wear them.   I was trying to sell them originally because I never really wore them in the first place (2019 was a wonderful time when I had the money that I could dream of rocking shoes that cost a lot, but deep down it wasn’t really me)

if youre still trying to sell them, theres a couple subreddits full of kids buying and selling fake shit. just post a few pictures, i dont know what you paid but if theyre decent you can probably get $100 for them.

Worst comes to worse you could, you know.... ahem.  But definitely don't unless your situation is real bad.

ha i wasnt going to mention it but yeah, you could go the scumbag route. some youtuber keeps sending fakes through stockx and Goat to see if theyll pass. so far i think hes at 27 fake jordans passed as authentic. which is pretty funny. he buys them himself as to not be filming himself scamming but yeah, that shit happens daily could easily get lucky and walk away with actual resale. thats on you tho haha
