Yeah, he was on Polar for like a couple months between Hopps and 917.

I am a Fan of 917, dope videos great team. But I can’t say I blame the guys for leaving. In a way it would be cool not having someone breathing down your neck for this and that, but if you can’t even get a trip or a board graphic going after a few years I’d be over it too.

To anyone who hasn’t listened he isn’t gifting anyone anything.
Cyrus quit and said “yeah then everyone else quit.” So yeah that shits dust. Does sound like they’re starting their own shit. But Cyrus and max should both just get on baker.

If they don't start something together, Max on Isle and Cyrus on Alltimers or maybe Scum Co makes a lot of sense.

Cyrus doesn't strike me as someone who would want to start his own company. He definitely just wants to keep doing what he's doing and doesn't want to have to worry about starting or running a company, I could be wrong though. From the interview it seems like he's shooting for something bigger/more serious, whatever that may be for him. 917 is one of my favorite companies/teams but yeah definitely seem to be falling apart and have bad management which is really unfortunate, so I can't really blame him and whoever else for leaving.

Either way Cyrus is easily one of my favorite skaters and I can't wait to see what's next for him

Yes, but the boards he was given were from Stewart’s apartment and broke easily and he didn’t feel comfortable going pro for them so he left.   (Per the Bunt)

Isle is even less active than 917 in terms of product drops.

Just heard the thing on The Bunt and I´m very impressed that the info of him quitting didn´t leaked  before, not even in this board, (the episode was recorded before the SOTY was chosen).

On other hand liked 917 or not , Cyrus, or Cyrus leaving, we must give some credit to Monkey for doing the Slap Pals Questions, and all of you guys who made questions about Alex and 917 to Cyrus, because he said that all that helped to make his mind. This is another SLAP achievement, like that letter someone sent to New Balance to start a skate program, or all that happened with Jason Jessee after that thread. Congrats Pals, no matter if you have 14y/o or 30 something.

Also, like everyone predicted here, I can see AO as a bad brand owner and focused in other shit more than 917, I can picture that lack of communication in Alex and how to some basic shit will take forever, Cyrus talking about the shapes and other stuff reminded me of being in Amigos Skateshop in Barcelona and that kid Pedro Attebrough was there swapping 917 boards for some Quasi because they sent the wrong shape AGAIN.

Whatever those guys make, if they get paid and keep blessing us with footy, I´l l be more than happy.

Shedding a tear. It was a good run.
As soon as Nelson hears that anything is “small and intimate” he gets paranoid he’s not invited and goes crazy to get there, so he put his mind to it and got there through someone else. It turned out to be thousands of people there so when he saw Paul he said, “Small, intimate world, isn’t it?

I don't see Cyrus starting his own brand. More like Johnny Wilson and someone behind the scenes with full buy-in from that circle. Like, Gilbert, Jake and Bledsoe starting Quasi with Chad Bowers. Those guys are free to skate and put out footage while Bowers handles a lot of the day to day stuff.

Alex Olson didn’t run 917 and I’m pretty sure Robin was more involved with Bianca Chandon. I’m pretty sure Logan Lara was the one who ran it into the ground. Nice guy when I had a brief interaction with him but seemed a bit insecure about the videos/brand in general.

The ultimate flex.

A board company with no riders, no distribution, no sales.... so exclusive.

Great skater! I miss seeing AO footage more often, but he's like one of those people that starts a band, get's everyone together, and then doesn't have any good ideas.  First 2 full lengths were great, but AO couldn't keep the wind behind the sails.

As sick as Max on Isle would be, I kinda wanna see Max and Cyrus on FA/Hockey just so they're on the same team as Nik, Andrew and Vince

i'm guessing here, but if this was around 2013-2014, they might have been the old boards before the generator swap.

Well I guess now I’m interested enough to ask: people have good experiences skating hockey boards?

So how hard is it to run a board company? You outsource the printing of the actual graphics and the pressing of the boards, same with the clothes. You do 1 drop every 3-6 months and you typically drop ~6 decks and a handful of softgoods. Some distributes your stuff. So you need:

-Someone doing graphic design.
-Someone to do some light book-keeping.
-A person to send shit to team riders
-One of these people also needs to send the designs to the manufacturers and keep track of things.

917 wasn't exactly a big operation and I struggle to see how it was so high stress and high output that AO had a difficult time finding a few hours a month to do these things.
