whats your inseam/height and did moving to a 14 wb affect your flips , if so how

5’8”, shorter legs (no formal measurement) 30 in pants, usually.
Kickflips just feel right, no rocket. Rotational tricks feel better, easier to come around.

5'8" here, fairly short in the leg.

14" wb is perfect for me, no rocket flips in sight...and anything involving rotation front to back or back to front goes round nice and quick.

I can skate any width 8-8.5" with consistency as long as the WB is 14"

This is super validating. I'm 6' with hella short legs and kinda bad flexibility in my legs w my flick and going down to 14" helped my rocket flips too lol

The good poster FI with the good info. Simon Bannerot, who skates a lot of love seats, supposedly skates 159s. The people that I know that skate that deck with 8.5 trucks seem to do that more out of it being the truck size they normally skate, not that they are trying to match it correctly with the board.
So yeah. 159s. Ha.

I actually got another Simon loveseat on ice ATM and when I do set it up going to run 159 mids or 55 classics this time. You're right in that I was just in an 8.5"-ish truck zone last time but have gone full bongo with the wide trucks since.

Some shredders from where I live do the 8.5 truck thing on em, but don’t ride that deck shape exclusively, so it just seems like consistency (and they don’t have the gear madness).

159s are great, last indy I have.

FI what got you to liking 55s? If I remember they weren’t your fave. I’ve got some, and used them on a ‘92 shape, with wood risers. Skated that setup maybe twice and was over it. My setup .....weirdness is basically me not being able to admit that 360 flips are far from a go to, at this point. I’m lucky to get one good one when I go out.
Enough of that sad tale.

Honestly just about every board I ran them on had a crazy long WB. Set them up on a Sour 8.5" (mellow with a 14.25" WB) and some 1/8" risers and they felt perfect.

Pretty sure all the Spectrum decks are pennswood with a 14" WB. Same with all the Scumco logo boards on Pennswood. The FA/Hocky 8.18 is good too...longest tail on their shape.

Dropping in to say thank you, couldn’t find the Scumco wb anywhere...except here.

Just got an April Shane perfect spot 8.125" delivered.

Nice flat shape, the given 14" WB, but width wise it's actually an 8.18"

Pretty stoked on it so I think it'll be next in line for me from the pile.

I don't quite understand why they are selling an 8.18" as an 8.125", but no complaints.

True.
Width variance like this, I personally wouldn’t notice. Wb and overall length hit me harder.

Yeah I agree: WB being wrong comes down to miscommunication; either there's a print error, OR there is a misunderstanding/different philosophy with how to measure properly (paging @darkthrone - please measure wheelbase from the center of the holes in the future).

Anyone know of a board that is 8.0 x 31.5(or less) x 14wb, flat with mellow kicks, and similar length nose and tail?

The crail G018 seems to fit the bill but I don’t think they stock any boards in that shape/size currently.

I’m also curious how every one gets such accurate measurements. 8.18=8 9/50ths..most tapes don’t even have 32nds, much less 50ths.

Y’all using calipers or..?

No shots at anyone I’m just genuinely curious.

Little late on my end, but I'm basically the same height and inseam as you. What trucks do you normally run on a 14wb? I've been trying to experiment with different combinations. Lately Indy's have been feeling nice, but still trying to decide if I want something that extends the wb more (I'm a pretty broad shouldered).

More of a general question, would a 14wb with Indy's feel the same (or very similar) to a 14.25wb with Aces (classics)? I know there's other variables involved but assuming the width is the same and the kicks are at similar angles.

I'm in the UK so my tape measures have mm and inches, in the case of measuring boards I usually use mm then convert, more accurate.

I do have a set of digital calipers for work, but they only go up to 8" :(

Ahh, duh I went too deep on that. 8-3/16ths=8.1875 although if you convert 8.18 to a fraction it’s 8-9/50ths. Suppose it’s close enough

I got the same deck. Struggled with Thunders, where on a Girl 14" base Thunders were king. Went to Indys on the April it seems better so far.

I have noticed with Aprils in general ( even older ones ) Their 8.125 measures bigger
