I think that 14” wheelbase boards are only made for Ventures. I’m gonna stick with the utterly magical 14.25 on Indys formula for tha gods.
The last few decks I’ve have had are 14.25 wheelbases on ventures and I feel like I’ve done my best skating in a while. That being said I could easily go back to a 14 and be fine

used to ride wobbly trucks until i figured out about 14" wb. rode jiggly aces for years, but ran em at stock tightness on 14's and loved it, especially on vert and big shit. im on an 8 x 31.66 hockey right now, but the anti hero 8.12 x 31.38 shape was definitely my favourite being hella short. 8.06 x 31.5 was also sick. i'd like to see an 8" - 8.38" deck with 13.75 wb

Kook this man!

2021 is the year of Ventures! SOTY forerunner Brandon Westgate rocks the only truck that matters!!!!!

A shop called OCD in Australia has everything listed in search for lots of things including wheelbase, so at 14.0 there are lots to see, most between 7.75 and 8.1 but a few up to 8.25 and nothing over that, from that list at least:
https://www.ocdskateshop.com.au/collections/decks?pf_t_wheelbase=wheelbase%3A14.0

OCD is a sick shop, they list down all their measurements and let's you search by length and wheelbase which is rad. I popped in during a business trip in 2019, dude behind the counter probably thought I was weird for browsing in the shop for so long and only buying a pair of Arrow wheels, but he was cool all around.
Venture Truck Height:

5.0 & 5.2 LO
STANDARD - 1.88” - 47.75mm
FORGED - 1.85”- 46.99mm

5.0 ,5.2, 5.6, 5.8 & 6.1 HI
STANDARD - 2.09” - 53.09mm
FORGED - 2.04” - 51.82m

Ohhhh boy, a 8.25 twin shape with a 14 wheelbase. That’s going to be an instant grab once I see it

I’ve been wanting to try 14wb for a little bit now. Been tempted by the primitive 8.25 shape and I even have the venture 5.6 that would work for it I just think that is too small for me. Would love to try an 8.5 with a 14wb though. My go to is 8.5 x 31.8 14.25 wb with Indy 159 hollows. I’m curious as to how an 8.5 with a 14 wb and ventures would feel for me

14" member checking in! 8)

Primitive/April 8.25's  (so good)
Business and Co. 8.25
Flip has some 8.25's with 14wb but they are almost 33 in long! That's a no for me.

I'm still on a FA/Hockey kick with the 8.38's with the 14.1 WB.

I'm also back to only skating indys.

you guys are making we want to go back to ventures. It's been years!

I wish baker would come out with a 14wb deck.

I am currently on dlx (AH - GT) 8.12/31.38/14. It's number 1 from the stack and the tail is quite steep for me, but i try to get used to it. ( for some tricks i need to ride tail as nose coz the pop angle is less and the flip tricks are easier). I ride with venture v-hollows 5.2 hi, first with 53 wheels, but now i put 50 mm and immediately felt better on that board. I am short guy 5.5-5.6 (169cm) and feel this combo is quite good for my legs. I guess thunders will work great for that shape, too. I would like to to shorten the width and may try the other dlx shape 8.06/31.5/14.

thunders(even cast) on that set up will help you more than going smaller wheels.  The tail length is kinda short for ventures, makes it feel steep and heavy

This DLX shape sounds interesting-

https://www.skatewarehouse.com/Anti_Hero_Daan_Therapy_Sesh_Deck/descpage-AHDTHPS81DK.html

8.18 x 14 x 31.38
It’s a good shape, I have a Raney deck in that shape, and I had a biz and co deck with similar dims

I only skate dlx 8.12 × 31.3 shape with 14" wb. Best out there.
[close]

what trucks n wheel size?
[close]

More importantly, how tall? 31.3"? FFS.

I am 5.8 and the deck is just short enough to fit under my crotch if it stands vertically on the ground (if that makes sense). I ride thunder 148, wheel size 52 and use 1/8" riser pads. I have tried a lot and this just works best for me, I am pretty much skating street only though

count me in for the 8.5 if true. still contemplating the skidul shape even though KA is gross......graphic would get sanded anyway

skidul shape is a tough moral dilemma indeed, I’m opting no for the meantime!

Which is okay because I’m on one of krooked’s guest Chico boards atm, he’s always been about that 14” life

has anybody tried 14" wb deck with short wb trucks like theeve, ace, film, mini logo? How do you feel this combo? I recently bought a pair of film trucks  raw model and tried them once on the anti hero 8.12 deck with 53mm wheels.  First i made a comparison with the other set up (anti hero/venture v-hollow/50 mm wheels) and the pop angle was almost the same. The film combo was quite funky, coz the trucks are a bit loose and the short wb deck make them  even more turny. Actually i like the surfy feel but need some time to get used to this for making tricks.  In the end i returned to the venture combo coz i feel more stable and comfortable, may be coz i have been riding 14'' decks with venture for the most part of m sk8 life.

I actually have a 9" loveseat (14 wb) freshly set up with mini logo trucks.

I've only skated it a couple times in the street but it feels ok, I'm used to skating low thunders on a 14" so the pop is kind of odd, but in terms of the ride, board feels very compact even for a 9" wide, it's pretty fun to turn even on brand new trucks.

I'll update once ive skated it a bit more and done some flatground work on it.

I skated a loveseat (13.875" WB) with Aces and loved it. I'm pretty tall but due to the amount of flat on the board it didn't feel short.

Manual point was insane. Did a no-comply 180 fakie manual on it by accident, which is out of my league normally.

14 inch wheelbase on a 13.25 to 31.5 length deck feels so perfect to me. That and a 14.25 wheelbase on a 31.75 to 32 inch length deck are the best two feeling dimensions to me.

I’d imagine if it were a 14 inch wheelbase on like a 30.8-31 length board the tail would probably still feel pretty heavy, especially if the fingers of flat on the tail was minimal too. Wheelbase to length ratio and fingers of flat is pretty important. Just cuz a deck has a 14 inch wheelbase doesn’t automatically mean you’re gonna need ventures for them, the pop could already be hefty enough; could still be better off with aces.

Ahh yes, a thread I can really get behind.  I have an Enjoi R7 Samarria pro model (8 x 31.6) and a Krooked Chico Big Boy (9 x 32.3.)  Both have a 14" WB and both handle like a dream, obviously in different ways.  Never thought I'd be a wheelbase nerd but I'll probably stick to 14 from now on.

They're a happy medium between the DLX full SE and hockey/FA, but with mellower kicks. But I can only speak for the first few runs they did; I ordered my 3rd butterfly deck last summer but in a smaller size (8.12), and the nose was way too pointy for my liking.

that's what I like to hear. I skate a bunch of hockey decks as well as quasi proto and gx1000 so it sounds right up my alley. Just ordered the Business & Company Black Church II 8.25 x 31.375 14WB from skatepark of tampa

Finally switched over from a 8.25/14.25 Isle to a 8.25/14 Girl.

Everything felt great really. Warming up I noticed that fs 180s just whipped around even faster than normal but other than that I didn’t notice much change either positive or negative, I just had a solid session and never felt uncomfortable.
