Finally switched over from a 8.25/14.25 Isle to a 8.25/14 Girl.

Everything felt great really. Warming up I noticed that fs 180s just whipped around even faster than normal but other than that I didn’t notice much change either positive or negative, I just had a solid session and never felt uncomfortable.

Did you notice any difference snapping an ollie over a hip or A-frame? Thats where i really noticed the deck sucking up to my feet was quicker compared to my old 14.25"

I went from venture low 5.2s to thunder 147s standards on my 8.0 x 31.6 w 14” wb and I’m loving them. Threw some hard bones bushings in them and after breaking them in a lil, they turn great. I still feel close to the ground and transition skating feels much better than on the low ventures.

The thread i'm looking for!!

Girl 8.25 and maybe under to 8 is a 14" wheelbase. Mellow as, I liked it with Thunders, Indys no go.

Def will now try and find another 14" WB deck

@rocklobster can you remind me what the difference Ventures will do to the WB compared to Thunders?

I just came up on an interesting shape.  My new Hopps deck (gripped but not set up yet) is an 8 with a 14 inch wheelbase, but measures kind of long for that width at 32" even.  Curious to see how it'll skate.

Could be great with ventures.

I’m skating an 8.25 evisen, 5.8s, 52mm conical fulls. Flips great. Because wb 14”, total length is just shy of 31.5” (birds eye/tip to tip....not pressed). Would be better with 5.6s most likely, but I’m not gonna change anything.
Next boards I’d like to try: the 8.25 April everyone seems to like, little nervous about the length. The 8.25 CT wknd board. Dimensions sound perfect

Found an old Primitive deck that was 8 x 31.9 x 14 (or 14.125), I thought they only did these dimensions on a 8.25 (8.25 x 32 x 14), but it could be an old shape.

Antiz have just done a few, there's an 8.25" that's 32"x14" WB... no idea how easy or hard it is to get them stateside though.

Primitive still does short WB on their 8 and 8.25. The sizing guide on their website is outdated, the last Primitive 8.0 I held was a 8 x 31.9 x 14, their 8.25 follows a similar dimension at 8 x 31.9 x 14.

You all got me hyped to jump back on the 14" wb train.
Today the madness took over again and I ordered a shop deck from skatedeluxe. The dimensions should be perfect for me.
8.25x31,5 14"wb
Nose 6.875
Tail 6.5

Today was my first time on Girl G052, with 14" wb, and oohhh boyy, this is something else. Really felt super nice and easy to do tricks. I'm riding 5.6 venture hollows and i feel like i've hit the sweet spot.

I hated mine, measured out to 8.18 front bolts, tapers to 8.06 on the back. The tail is the same length as the nose but with less flat, so it feels much bigger than the nose.  Maybe I just hate the steep kicks, but I couldn't do another day.

Reading around these truck madness threads and the consensus seems to be that ventures gain from small wb and indys from large wb, so maybe that was the problem  :(

Maybe, but I'm quite used to a 14" wb, been skating them for the last 15 yrs - I felt no problem with the wheelbase, its the kicks that were annoying - slapping ventures on would just make the steepish kicks feel heavier by making the nose/tail shorter, with the added bonus of not turning =P.

Aah, gotcha. I've always fucked with steep kicks, I remember having an AWS back in 2008 (7.62) that had the steepest nose ever, I loved it.

8.18 x 31.73"
14" Wheel Base.

Said it before, but the FA/Hockey 8.18" is super good. Very full, long (for FA) tail. I have one that I skated with Ace 44s and it was sick.

Yeah, they are very consistent, like every 8.18" is 31.73" with a 14" WB, every 8.5" is 31.91" with a 14.25" WB, and so on.
