Metal is by far my favorite genre of music, and Death Metal is my favorite sub genre within that. I canít get enough 80s/early 90ís death metal. Morbid Angel, Death, Massacre, Benediction, Deicide, Mortician, Cannibal Corpse (Chris Barnes era), Vital Remains, Possessed, and Incantation are a few of my many favorite bands

I just saw this live. They stretch ea & io out to 40 mins each. Watched a bunch of burly metal heads storm out mid way yelling ďI didnít pay to hear bikram yogaĒ. Paul was drinking wine out of a goblet and everyone dressed up formally to see the local boys killer light show.

It's crazy to me because they've been talking about this project for well over a year, and this album was announced awhile ago, but metal-heads are still stumped by the whole thing.  Personally I dig the album a lot. I'm a fan of ambient/krautrock/experimental but far from an expert, but I think it fits well with their aesthetic.  Rad that you got to see them live.

A couple of classics I've been listening to lately:

everyone was seated. So I was gonna wear an AC shirt to the event but I went to a record store/ skateshop to pick some shit up. The cashier was blasting some heavy shit so I asked him if he was going to show that night. Heís like yeah Iím going but did you read the fine print on the flyer and points to this tiny line of text essentially asking everyone attending to dress formal. Had to run out on the middle of a sesh to iron my slacks haha.

My girl couldnít go so the next day we played it in her car and went through a car wash with crazy lights and tri-foam.

i just copped tickets to see demolition hammer, immolation, and mortician on the same bill in nyc next week

what an absolute killer local hero lineup

haven't been this pumped for a gig in ages

new immolation isn't that great if i'm honest, but it's still above-average for a band this deep into their career

Mortician live! Sounds amazing man.  Immo sounded like the CDs when I saw em live.  I've got tickets to see Defeated Sanity and Disentomb later this year in Melbourne, very excited.

I saw them when they came through here 4 years ago and they were great.  Not really my style of death metal, but I'm giving Nocturnal a full listen today.

Nocturnal was the gateway record for me. I still think it's where they found their sound. The leads get more professional and are inarguably better after that record but I love the shreddy, almost Eastern-Euro folk sound of the leads on Nocturnal.
