Probably my all-time fav death metal album, absolutely immaculate mainly due to Kevin Talley's drumming.

Gonna watch them tomorrow with Archspire opening up.
2nd time time seeing Dying Fetus live but last one was about 8 years ago so I’m pretty hyped…

it must be crazy when chico sells you something and the tables switch from "give me my money chico" to "giving my money to chico"

some stuff I've been into lately...

described as Grand Belial's Key meets Thin Lizzy with some Sacryphix.. that's a pretty crazy mix.  IRA-based black/death.

I was never too into melodic death, but this rules.  Like iron maiden meets death metal.  Clearly a rip-off of Arghoslent but they aren't nazi's so I'll take it:

gutteral shit.  New Jersey death metal

That's the gist of the entire genre basically. I love it when a fat hook emerges from a brutal section. That's what I show up for.

Yeah I always kept it at arms length because of albums like Heartwork... but now I'm going back and trying to relisten to stuff I dismissed too quicky, like Dismember and Desultory.

New Undergang came out yesterday and of course it rules:

also this just dropped, the singer from Disgorge's new band:

i'm still not sold on melodic death metal. just doesnt do it for me, and i think this band even less than normally.

anyone lucky enought to make it to Kill Town Death Fest? some friends are there and i wish i was too. (Undergang mention reminded me of it)

couple new albums I've been into:

also the new Blood Incantation single came out yesterday, I'm not sure how I feel about it yet.  It feels kind of mailed in... there's no real aggression to it.  It also sounds like they just want to be an ambient band now, and just kinda go through the death metal-motions to get to that part of it.  I don't know, maybe it'll grow on me.  I'll still get their new album immediately.

The BI dudes said they’re finishing up a new album before the end of the year. There’s also a new black curse ep that’s finalized and hopefully they drop that soon. Anyone check out that new Worm / Dreams Unending split? The worm side goes! FFo: Rippikoulu, Spectral Voice, Mortiferum, Chthonic Deity, Disembowelment

Crying rn because they’re gonna play this as a set for MDF and I didn’t get tickets. But I bet my local already has it cuz Jeff drops stuff there.

Do you have any pointers?

it's funny cause when i first looked them up the metal archives pages stated antisemitism as lyricsl themes. that was my main pointer. but thats gone now. google search results still shows the old text.

i read the nothing too explicit. just edgy stuff you'd expect. mentions jews in 2 songs. but one of those was Jesus. so its probably correct it was removed. tho i think its generally smarter to not write lyrics about jews sufferingat all for obvious reasons.

anothing thing was the vocalist beoing in multible Quebec nationalist bands. but i clearly know fuck all about how Quebec nationalism works as it kinda seems to be in the unreconized state/resisting clonization kinda way (like Irish nationalism in Northen Ireland). maybe we have some experts on this that live around there

i honestly hope i'm all wrong cause they sound amazing. but war/beastial black metal bands too often turn out to have racist leanings so i allways feel like i have to check first.

I mostly check the lyrics and their lyrics (if available) for any obvious pointers. But in this case I can't really find any evidence of their political stance.
As long as the art of the band doesn't depict any racist or nationalist views I'm fine with it, but I am not a fan of political music, no matter what political beliefs they have.

In this case the music seems to be mostly about Barbarism, Nuclear shit and War, which, if you boil it down is just as stupid to sing about, but at least it seems to be non-political
