carrying your board
« on: April 23, 2021, 10:50:37 AM »
Call me an old curmudgeon, but nothing does my head in more than seeing people carrying their boards......walking to the skate spot is lame when you could be skateboarding.  Ok so I'm an old fucker.....and I am probably talking about young people...........but what kind of idiot walks down a hill carrying a board?

How do you all carry your board on a bike, if you don’t have a basket or a skate holder? Shoelace tied to the trucks then across your back?

You should always carry your board in a tasteful bag, like an adult.
Andy Anderson, I cannot sanction your buffoonery.

Skateboards come with those neat carry handles that make it convenient. Some people call them trucks.

Just put your board into your leather Louis Vuitton manbag like all the cool people do.

Carrying a board is for poor peasants.

I felt the same way as OP a long time ago, but then I changed.

Where I live, the ground/streets/sidewalks are really dusty during spring, so if I skate I'll get tons of dust on my grip by the time I get to the spot or park. Not trying to grip gum my board at the spot either, that'll take precious time away from the session.

Currently I've been walking with my board to a park that's about ten minutes away. If I skated there, my board would be full of dust/slippery and make for a garbage session.

It's also pretty flat in my neighbourhood and the ground's rough, so that combined with the dust doesn't make it that much fun of a cruise. Plus I find that simply walking is a good way to warm up my legs for the session.

I also bike to some parks and use a bag for my board, similar to what arrbee posted. It's a bit laborious and uncomfortable but it also saves me time.

At this point I don't care what's cool and what's not cool, if I like it I'll do it.

I hate skating on rough ground, the juice isn't worth the squeeze and I'd rather walk until I have some more pleasant ground to ride on. When I was in high school I would have cruiser wheels in my backpack that I would change out my hard wheels with so that I could ride rough ground but I stopped doing that because it's tedious to always be switching around my wheels and I have a car now. I won't walk down a hill I'm comfortable with and have bombed several times before but I will if it appears to be pretty gnarly and I haven't skated it before or if I need spotters at intersections to skate it but don't have any then I'll walk down it with my board in my hand.

Op, you ok man? Being real here, you doin alright?

Always grip out. I can't have it rubbing my shirts and pants causing holes, I'm not made of money over here.

I live inner city, the place is skate-able - I see it all the time, people walking around with their boards...from A to B on good surfaces, pavements, pathways whatever.

Mine wedges perfectly across my handlebars. Does make it sketchier squeezing between cars though
