At this point, I don't need to see 20 failed attempts at one trick. If you tell me it was hard and took a while to do.. I believe you.
[close]

agreed. a good workaround would be to put a block of text on the screen during the trick that reads something like, "it was hard and took a while to do."

Music.  Just let the skating breathe.  The raw cuts are better than the finished parts.
[close]

i'd be down for this. we are running out of songs anyway.

on the opposite front i'd like to see a return to showing the names of the skaters.
PLEASE. I hate watching a skate video and just sitting there like "who the fuck is this?" the entire time.

I agree with the music take. Rewatching a part on mute can really show how much the music takes away from it. Also tre flips.

The fisheye fist bump after the make. When making the Shaqueefa videos this is really the only thing I told the filmer i did not want in the video.

The video filter that is supposed to look film and for whatever reasons shows the sprocket holes on the left side.

People hitting their head and continuing to skate. Concussions are no joke you gotta take time off after your skull bounces on cement.

what I would like to see: bring back the dedicated slam section

agreed on this. i'm on the extreme. i wouldn't mind raw footage that shows the best slam for each trick.

why does every line have to have a 360 flip? i feel that one is kind of getting better though

oh, and that filter that is supposed to make it look like old worn out VHS quality. Is that still a thing?
That's stupid

The love fests at the bottom of stairs. Its out of control.  Skate videos are pretty much done anyway. They've run their course.  Most are almost unwatchable.

Plain black griptape. We live in an era where you can get almost any graphic on griptape. Let's use it. Lose the plain black.

the complete opposite of this.

I have a hard time watching videos unless I'm seeing the weed graphic Mob grip.

😅🤣
This has me cracking up, what exactly does Black Flag have to do with measuring your dick starting behind ya nuts?

Skateboarding is nothing but a game to find the right fits to appear like you're a proportional human being instead of a midget or a giant.

The now-cliche roll up shot focusing on the skater’s face.

Most seem to be very aware that their face is being filmed (as I would be, were I in that situation), so then there’s this whole mind game of knowing and caring about being filmed while looking like you don’t care while I’m watching this person months afterwards having to psychologically diagnose what is going on in their head and trying to distinguish between fake and real facial expressions.  It would be nice if I didn’t have to do that, but I do.  It’s exhausting.
When nothing in society deserves respect, we should fashion for ourselves in solitude new silent loyalties.

This right here is a huge reason why Listen is a timeless video. Super underrated imo. Btw if anyone has a VHS copy they'd be willing to sell, please PM me.

I think we've seen enough encounters with security or the homeless.

Pisses me off when skaters in videos fuck with the homeless. You claim to be anti-authoritarian and anti-system, yet you pick on the people who have been fucked the absolute hardest by society.

Lines where people hit an obstacle, turn around, and then hit the same obstacle. Turnaround lines suck so much.

for the most part, i dont care to see stuff where hands are used / feet are coming off the board.that was not what drew me into skating in the first place, it was super impressive to me that people could somehow do this shit with just their feet staying on the fucking board somehow it just doesnt even seem possible if you never knew about it before.

I will say, theres the odd time it is just perfect though because of the way the spot is in which case im down for it. people like mike ruscyk no comply flip up stairs was always crazy to me, i respect the hell out of that. it can be done tastefully like a nice grab blasted can always look awesome esepcailly if you are tweaking it in a way that would otherwise be impossible without hands

hahaa - funny description of a very real issue.  these have gotten out of control.  be watching someone roll up to something and their face looks like their about to do something fucking insane, just pure intensity & focus....i'm thinking "damn, what gnarly trick am i about to see?".....then they slappy a curb

Can't believe no music is so popular.

I'd guess far more parts are made memorable by the song choice than the choice to have a song.

The problem is that most of the music that has been in videos for the last five years has suuucked.

spots in the middle of nowhere, like a ditch in a field in Fargo or whatever

skate parks ive seen before

smoking weed

guys wearing all black

dickies/slacks/button ups/cardigans

what I would like to see: bring back the dedicated slam section

?? those are the two best types of spots in any video
