How to built a Kicker?
« on: June 04, 2021, 07:01:32 AM »
So now I have some nice new ledge opportunities, some of them are quite high and I would love to use a kicker to get up to some of them
I have this pallet sitting around thats quite heavy and i think it would be a solid base for a kicker. it sjust a mini one its about 3x3 feet fairly square.  I can get a sheet of plywood pretty easily. should i just start from scratch or can i make this into something half decent?

You may be able to pull it apart and use the slats as bracing but in my experience pallets usually suck for structural stuff. Id say start from scratch

Get a sheet of wood, trace out the transitions to your desired height/length, use 2x4s to connect them, put a sheet of wood accross get a piece of metal for the bottom.

i think i am just going to leave the skid at one of my spots for a ghetto kicked. i found some shit to prop it up against + a sign for rollin transition so thats what this skid will be now

sorry buddy complete newb here - i am not able to go into the home depot still because we are still on lock down
are you able to recommend the type of plywood i should buy? I think MDF is NOT what i want

would this work? https://www.homedepot.ca/product/revolutionply-4-ft-x-8-ft-x5-2mm-plywood/1000811055

this looks pretty big but maybe could use it for some other projects too

would this work?

5/8" or 3/4" sheet of plywood not particle or mdf board but get something layered. A2x4 for bracing and a 1/2" top sheet of plywood should work. Some 2.5" screws and a peice of a sign or 1/16" sheet metal for the threshold. There are several kicker instructions google. I build all my ramps quarter pipes and boxes and its alot cheaper. Just started to weld so would love to find a pipe bender to make some rails like bluntsteel rails.

I would use the Keen ramp design and size. I'm about to make one for a friend that is having trouble popping out of transition 'cause he grew up jumping down stuff not over

https://keenramps.com/collections/personal-favorites/products/kicker

I have made more than I handful of ramps totally out of found materials including a halfpipe made from pallets and crates

if I only had one saw it would be a circ. Cutting transition with a circular saw is tough but it can be done

My guess is that the transition on the kneen ramp is 8 foot maybe 7 or 6 maybe 10. Don't know till I draw it

Snowboarders build kickers - skaters build jumpramps.
