At least Cody is actually popping his tricks these days, he didn't really go back to the slow and low pivot-heavy thing too much this time around. I don't like him but the batb7 story is pretty rad, real storybook shit.

Dashawn is starting to give me Shane O'Neil vibes. It's insane what he does but he's so fucking perfect and does everything so flawlessly that I kinda zone out after a minute. Bigger flips should not be that easy.

I don't see any O'neill parallels, Shane has that dagger flick, the board smacks his feet when he catches it

Haven't kept up with this in a good while. Looked at the bracket at the end of the last game now and saw that Ronnie Creager's name is gone. When did that happen? I know Stevie backed out but Ronnie too? Literally the only thing I looked forward to watch in this shitshow.

Kinda wild that a game can be that long when one of the skaters doesn't land a single trick on offense.

Pretty sure neither of those guys backed out, simply never accepted in the first place.

Berra just put a bunch of names on the bracket without even asking people if they were down. Apparently a whole bunch of people were simply not into it.

on the plus side, p-rod versus nick tucker as a quarter final should be tantalisingly awkward.

Screwdriver or no, you gotta respect Chase's grace and professionalism. He's probably worked closely with hundreds of skaters over the past 15(!) years, and this BATB clusterfuck must have him pulling out his hair with every last minute change. Yikes. I kinda feel bad for him; narcissist borra seems to have no awareness of what his ego trip is doing to people.

Would have made for some great TV.

With Stevie that is probably true but Creager had actually accepted and talked about BATB12 when he was on the nine club, posted clips of him practicing flatground on IG etc. He was still on the bracket even after Stevie's name was removed (can't remember who they replaced Stevie with though) but now it's gone. It's a mystery. And a tragic.

Why even make a rule about wrapping impossibles if it's just going to get ignored? Otherwise this was a solid game, I'm a little surprised by how well Spencer did

To be fair the rule states "IF your opponent wraps their impossibles you must wrap your impossibles" so IMO this covers it, and I haven't seen any impossible bullshit since this rule change.

Although I do hate the fact that this creates two "types" of impossibles, it's good enough for me in the context of a game of skate.

So IMO in this game specifically I'm fine with a Unwrappossible on offense being defended by another Unwrappossible.

This conundrum only makes me wonder how and when unwrappossibles became accepted enough anyway that this had to become an issue down the road.

Genuinely impressed by Spencer's performance, I for sure thought Jamie was fucked there for a minute when he kept fucking up his pressure flippydeedoo.

I'm not familiar with him beyond this, but him giving up his turn when he landed the wrong trick was something I dont remember seeing in the Berrics. Definitely cost him the game, but tbf I wanted to see Jamie go on.

I was super surprised with Spencer.  Given the absolute shit quality of most of the "influencer" games (and his kook fit) I completely assumed he would be useless.  Good on you Spencer.

Same. My stomach normally turns watching the run of the mill YT skater with Cariumas on, but Spencer seems like a chill dude and I remember watching his videos from time to time years back. I didn't realize his flatground was that on point.
