Backside 180 to 50/50
« on: June 30, 2021, 05:01:37 PM »
Hey guys I've been trying this trick for at least a month now and can't consistently lock in for the life of me. I see zero trick tips on any platform except backside 180 to nosegrind. Anyone got any tips?

This is kinda the only trick I can do....

Back foot toe in toe side pocket....you can experiment by scootching it in a bit for more pop or hanging your toe for more scrape/swing.  Front foot, hang heel off a bit  Pushing on both heels you pop will help you get in and locked in.

Hey thanks. I was practicing a bit yesterday and kept getting into backside to nose grind by leaning more into it. I'll try ur tips today!

If you don't want to go to fakie nosegrind put your feet closer together......maybe lean back a bit?  Trick may be easier on a worn out board ie extra scrape/scoop.

This is one of my favorite ledge tricks, and usually a for sure letter in SKATE/ATV. What helps me to get into them is to focus on using your front foot to aim for the coping; when I slide my front foot up the griptape while spinning the bs 180 I imagine I'm sliding it parallel to the edge of the ledge. Most of the time it'll go in like a bs 5050. Another way to practice them is to try bs 180ing onto a ledge, overshooting the coping and making sure you land parallel to the ledge, then taking it to the coping when that is feeling good. I'm trying to learn them on flatbars and they're way harder, getting into the diagonal 5050 lock in is tricky when 180ing into it.

Please stay forever Lhotse I love you.

A lot of times when I havenít done one in a while Iíll approach the ledge/box/bench/etc. at more of a 45 degree angle instead of completely parallel and make sure I can lock into it just to rebuild my confidence.  You end up only sliding for a few inches but it gives you a better feel for it and is a little less high stakes.  When I actually do them, I also put a bit on pressure on the toe side of the board after I pop as Iím rotating the backside 180 so that the inside edges of my wheels slam against the edge of the ledge and lock in.

My biggest struggle with these is going into an unintentional Bennett grind. I avoid this by focusing on the pop not just lunging my board into the ledge but popping a clean little backside 180. The only way I got this down was by doing it over and over and over and little by little faster and faster and faster

I like to ride pretty much parallel to the ledge but pop from way further away than I would for a normal Ollie 5050.
Or try it on something kind of tall. Basically I find it easier when the 180 only finishes the micro second before I'm on the ledge not like pop a 180 stop rotating try stomp down landing on the ledge.
