It's pretty common I don't think most people notice.
It's not that common, and in most cases it's just weird. A 22 year old and 33 year old are really unlikely to have much in common in terms of maturity, life experience and goals.
I knew a lot of women who were having their second baby by the time they were 22 not to mention all of the 20 year old men I've come across who run their own business and own multiple homes cars and even boats.
Honestly I don't think 20 is as big of a leap from 30 as you make it seem just can't see it. What exactly can a 30 year old experience or do that a 20 year old can't?

You're an adult that actually believes a drinking limit will stop some one from consuming alcohol? I used to have peers who would go out bar hoping in highschool the youngest person I ever saw smoking cigarettes was 10 I've even met a few middle schoolers with tattoos.

Yeah, and I knew a 15 year old unofficially "married" to an 11 year old, both of whom were addicted to huffing paint, and regularly had to chase off pedophiles from abducting them and their friends into sex slavery.
That doesn't mean any of that is okay
Obviously the drinking age in the USA is wack especially considering you can drive, or easily buy guns, or serve a complete combat tour before you can drink. But 33 to 22 is fucking WEIRD. no matter how worldly the 22yo may be.
