Wilmington, DE
« on: July 29, 2021, 06:16:07 AM »
I will be dog sitting for my parents just outside Wilmington in a couple of weeks. Grew up skating there in the 90s/00s and know of the current skate parks but I am looking for street spots, good slappy or bank spots in particular.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

There are some nice ledges at this mini park median thing where Delaware Ave. splits. It is across the street from the Sheraton: https://www.google.com/maps/place/500+Delaware+Ave,+Wilmington,+DE+19801/@39.7476019,-75.5510792,3a,75y,115.32h,97.04t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1spAb_cwyPb7Jr09BVYx5PxQ!2e0!7i16384!8i8192!4m5!3m4!1s0x89c6fd1545ec1da1:0xfcfbd49b632ca63b!8m2!3d39.7477107!4d-75.5523247

The parking lot behind the YMCA, right by that first spot, I think it has of bumps, plus those low yellow barricade bar things, I drive past it everyday.

I got you dawg I'm going to keep an eye out just for you these next couple days.

Never been to Wilmington, but I have driven through Delaware lol.

I was bored and hopped around on google street view and found what appears to be a dope looking cellar door at 801 Bennet St:

Damn, we could crowdsource finding skate spots in cities all over the country this way.

Bump. I'll have a car so spots don't need to be in Wilmington proper.

The curbs surrounding Bayard elementary are very low, and they all have that metal coping on the edges. Could be a good slappy spot with maybe some mild TLC.

Rodney Square is a classic Wilmington spot, not sure what the current bust-factor is, and I know they're planning renovations soon.  There's also a pretty crusty barrier spot at the new park.  The new park is small-ish but really fun.

The renovations are complete - but this week it is definitely off limits as the Clifford Brown Jazz fest is currently goin on until Sunday.

Good to know. Rodney was my favorite spot back in the day, but it was pretty much always a bust. I'll be there Saturday to Saturday, so I am going to try and roll though after the jazz fest is over.

there looks like somebody may have prepped a roll on curb section in Rodney square in the 10th and king (southeastern) corner, I was walking past it the other day and saw it out of the corner of my eye

Check out this Instagram @skatedelaware anyway. Here’s something they’ve posted with the Rodney Square renovations.
