I think most people ran 149 on 8.25 pretty comfortably until 144 and whatever other truck brand’s equivalent came out. That was me. 8.25-8.6: I ran 149 only.
If the 8.25 tapers towards the tail and nose, then go with 144. If it doesn’t taper much, 149 is great. Stable and also gives you flexibility to go up to 8.5 if you’re leaning to that’s side of 8.25 with decks .
Either one will be solid for 8.25 decks tho!
8.25/149 was the norm for ages, lots of pros still run it.
This is imo the best combo - or 8.38 with 149's
Just waaaaaay more stability - especially on transition...
