That's interesting and I wonder where they are getting the expanded image area? Part of me thinks it's an AI extrapolation but the other wonders if they have access to 4K full frame footage. Both of those movies were filmed full frame 4:3 with safe area matte marks on the monitors for framing. It could be one way or the other.

EDIT: OK I see The Goonies on that account and that was anamorphic so it must be AI.

I just rewatched Serial Mom by John Waters on Netflix. I saw it almost 30 years ago and I wasn’t sure how well the movie’s humor would age but I definitely recommend it.

SPOILER ALERT
Kathleen Turner’s performance is hilarious. There’s an early scene where she makes these over the top vulgar crank phone calls to harass her neighbor and it’s seriously spit out your drink funny.
“Is this the cocksucker residence?”
“Goddamn you. Stop calling here!”
“Isn’t this 4215 Pussy Way?”

Makes sense... you can especially see it in the goodwill hunting ones. Still pretty cool.

Betty Blue director's cut. Some fluff that could've been left out, cinematography left me drooling.

In a Violent Nature was really fun. Gory as all hell. But still fun.

Backing this. One of my favorite movies.

Watched the X, Pearl, and Maxxxine movie at the theater, was a great series although Maxxxine was the weakest of the 3 but I'm glad to have seen all 3.

Maxxxine is Definitely the weakest of the 3 but still a pretty cool achievement for West.

Saw Maxxxine in the theater and had fun, but it honestly felt like a Tv show episode that went on 30 mins too long

LONGLEGS was pretty sick. It's no Silence of the Lambs by a longshot but it's worth seeing in theaters.

I saw Longlegs today. I agree with you. Nicholas Cage is great, the atmosphere, music and sound, and cinematography really build this constant feeling of dread and uneasiness. I’d change about 100 things about the film though but overall it was a lot of fun and I haven’t stopped thinking about it today.

I also watched Infinity Pool, which was absolutely incredible. Mia Goth is something else.

Inside Out 2.

The young today are so lucky to grow up watching a movie like this.

Did a double feature of Nowhere (1997) by Greg Araki and then Go (1999) both fuckin great fun 90s movies of youthful shenanigans. Nowhere having way a way darker story vs Go but would recommend both, on Criterion

Go deserves to be the alt-Christmas movie, not Die Hard

Rewatched The Score with Deniro. I like it for the pacing, the style, and the scenery.

Alice In The Cities. A kinda weird, beautiful road movie by Wim Wenders. Wanna see the road trilogy now
