I have nothing better to do than watch Summerslam but I still don't know if I will. I wish the Flair thing was tonight and SS was tomorrow.

Yes, I'd rather watch Ric Flair wrestle with a pacemaker than I would the 3rd biggest WWE PPV.

Alright, I watched the Becky and Bianca match. Even with the camera cuts and awful commentary, comparing that to the Anna Jay vs Ruby match from Rampage is night and day. AEW has a loooong way to go before their women are on this level. Becky might be top 5 wrestlers (of any gender) of this generation. She's so fucking good. Reminds me of a female Jericho in that you could give her anything and she'll get it over.

That’s fair but I’d compare Anna Jay to NXT wrestlers.   She’s only like 21 or 22.   Becky’s been doing this for like 15 years

I'm so fucking pumped about this. I'm at a concert but saw it on IG between sets. Psyched that Bayley is back, more than anything. Was scared that Io was going to leave WWE after not seeing her on NXT for a minute, so happy she's on the main roster. And Dakota is also great.

I think Becky was going for Bowie but ended up looking like the Heat Miser

I like the idea of these two getting called up/rehired - but the group seems weird.    Not digging Dakota’s hair/look.

Apparently Shirai is Iyo Skye now.

All the more reason why she shouldn't be in the main event for the next decade. I'd love nothing more than to be able to say Tony is a genius and does everything right and he's gonna put the fed out of business but his women's booking is atrocious. Jade has been about the only good thing this year, but even that has been semi-bungled at points.

Anna is hot as fuck but I genuinely think she's at about the same level as Lana. Actually not even at that level because at least Lana was a good promo. As such, they deserve the same level of criticism I'd give the fed if they put Lana in a main event singles match. I've watched a lot of Anna Jay matches due to my dark/elevation habit and I genuinely can't think of a good one. Not even I can justify putting someone over just because they have a 11/10 ass, not nowadays at least. They need to send her to Japan for a while or something.

I might actually watch WWE just for the women's division if Bayley comes back full force. I thought that whole staredown thing was kinda weird and super forced, but I'm definitely going to watch if it's Bayley vs Becky in any capacity.

McAfee nearly necked himself like 4 times in that match.

Jeff Jarrett is an awesome ref. Every time he does his count I half expect him to cut it off and start strutting across the ring.
Can't wait to see him mix it up with Andrade tomorrow.

Liv is wearing some shit leftover from her rhea BDSM gimmick I guess? She has a full on crotch zipper. Pretty good match with her and Ronda, could have done without the dusty finish though.

I agree with all points Anna and I think that’s why she’s with JAS now, to get better at all that stuff by being around vets all the time.   She was basically elevated when their female stars got stuck in their home countries during the pandemic and they likely don’t want to bail on her completely due to people liking her.    But knowing AEW, she’s not likely to have a solo match again for a bit.   That one with Ruby was just to cement her new character

She’s basically Liv when Liv first got called up skill-wise.   If she’s passionate (I believe Lance Storm is a family friend that trains her) she could mirror Liv’s journey (without the Vince/creative fuckery)

That main event was fucking WILD. I wasn't expecting much after mania, but man they kinda killed it. If that was actually Brock's last match then man what a way to go. I can't believe they let him do that shit with the ring, that seems like a lot of things could have gone very wrong, including him flipping it into the crowd or killing their champion and biggest star. Unless they gimmicked it somehow, but I didn't see anything when they were showing the underneath shots.

Gotta say Brock knocked it out of the park there. His selling and timing were great and he took some beefy fucking bumps. Both dudes knocked lumps out of each other but Brock stole the show for me. Watching those tables just explode under the weight of those two big beefy boys was beautiful. Let's get more of that shit and less Miz vs Logan Paul please.

Complete matches i missed due to falling asleep:

Lashley v Theory
Liv v Ronda
Roman v Brock
Uso v street Profit (Saw their Titans entrance though, pretty cool)

I actually kinda liked the logan paul v miz match. He definitely has some work to do with the basic mechanics of a match, but he has the sports entertainment on lock. Miz is a great heel and made him look pretty good. The frog splash might be 3rd all time behind Eddie and Montez Ford.

I liked Dakota Kai since she was in the first Mae Young tournament, so glad to see her back. Iyo almost jumped and danced herself into a nip slip. If a photo of Bayley in a thong ever hit the internet I would have no need for porn hub ever again.

I woke up to see the pin in the main event and was so confused when I saw the aftermath of the ring. I'll probably rewatch that match and maybe Liv.

Dude I say this as someone who lives to shit on the fed these days... You need to watch the main event like ASAP. Its going to go down as one of those legendary spots and what I loved about it most was that it seemed unsafe as fuck.

Dude Bayley was looking stacked as fuck. I would totally give her the creepy way too long hugs. Liv made it difficult to concentrate on the match at times too.

Anyone else watching Ric Flair's final match? This shit is actually going to be good I think. Tony Schiavone is doing commentary with Ian Rickyboner and holy shit they have the old set from the Crockett years! Unfortunately David Crockett is also there on commentary. Hopefully he won't be there all night. Here's a link if you don't have any Fite credits.

http://watchprowrestling.org/video/watch-jcp-ric-flairs-last-match-ppv-7-31-2022/

Edit: Holy shit this is like bad 90s wrestling clusterfucky and it's beautiful. There's a gigantic indy battle royale with fucking Devon Storm/Crowbar and Wolfie D and Bully Ray and Joey Janela and Kizzarny and no one has any idea what's going on. Please let this whole show be this insane. Dave Prazak and Tony trying to rapidly explain modern indy wrestling gimmicks (including Effy) to fat old David Crockett as they fly over the top rope is the kind of thing I could get used to.

It’s only a matter of time before Montez goes the HBK route and makes a singles run to the world title. He’d make a good cocky heel.

I wouldn’t be mad if they threw us for a swerve and gave Dawkins the singles run.

Also can’t wait to see when Theory cashes in and wins the belt. I don’t think they’d have him cash in on Reigns though.

Royal rumble dictates Wrestlemania championship.   MITB should dictate Summerslam in the same way.

Cash ins are just cheap now and it’s hard to be stoked, especially for a face, to finally win the belt In The sneakiest of ways.   It’s basically the 24/7 title then

That Flair show was a blast. Honestly one of the best shows I've seen all year. Literally not a bad match on the card except for the predictably awful/awesome main event.  Of course Flair fucking bladed haha. He looked like he tried to actively die in there before it got to the interview but then, in true Flair fashion he killed the promo.

They did it really smart, they had a commentator from the promotion that the match was from and did it as like a celebration of all the different styles of modern wrestling. Watching the AAA guys totally win old David Crockett over and have him marking out by the end was a highlight for me personally, but absolutely everyone delivered. Kross/DBS was probably my least favorite but I think they were short on time. Was a nice reminder how good Scarlett is though.

Andrade looks really good in trunks. I don't think I've ever seen him wear them before. He was wearing his old fed knee pads too haha. It was refreshing to see him work as a babyface again, his timing is absolutely impeccable.

But yeah I figured I'd like it but not nearly as much as I did, If you missed it it's absolutely worth seeking out.

In true WCW Saturday night fashion, the luchadors stole the show for me. That was the first Black Taurus match I've seen and he got over huge with me. Brick shit house in the coolest bull mask I've ever seen doing crazy lucha shit? Yes please. Definitely gonna try to find some more English commentary stuff with him.

I have to say even on going back and kinda skimming some of the stuff I missed that I don't think there was a bad match. There was only one like straight up banger (the lucha match) but even stuff like Pillman Jr and Brock vs the rock n roll that I figured was gonna be all shtick ended up being solid. It really is a buffet show though, and I think they did a really good job of balancing the modern high-spot super work rate stuff with classic storytelling. Wolves vs Guns takes a second for Davey and Eddie to find their rhythm but it builds to a really good early indy boom style match by the end.

Oh and Jacob Fatu is ALWAYS must watch. I know he's not super well behaved backstage and can't travel certain places because of his record and he's not the best promo, but holy fuck is he a force in the ring. He's like Haku and Umaga rolled into one and sprinkled liberally with "make a difference" Fatu haha. Watch his match just for his moonsault. You won't regret it.

I've been out of town and only watched a few highlights, but just talked to wifey and she filled me in on Dynamite last night. Page and the Bucks will 100% be first trios champ. Hopefully Adam Cole and his worthless friends go away after that. Hungle Boy v Cage will be real good and hopefully elevates Jungle Boy as a singles act as well as his tag work.

Jericho once again shows how to use a mic properly. Does Kingston get involved in the match against Mox?

Why put your women's world champ in a tag team every week and essentially not use her belt for any storylines? Oh, because she not super exciting in the ring and is complete garbo on the mic. Please let this lead to Toni Storm taking the belt. That is the only good reason for this.

Was wondering when you'd pop in. That's hilarious she's giving you show rundowns while you're out of town haha. If you missed the main event from Summerslam it's as good as the mania one was bad.

Was stoked to see Lethal and OC kick it off and Lethal to get the win. Lethal has been everywhere this week, he killed it (almost literally) at Flair's last match and as usual put on a great match with orange, so it's always cool to see him win on TV. Wardlow vs Lethal should be awesome too. I laughed so fucking hard when the best friends came out on each other's shoulders with a trench coat over them to face off with Satnam.

Christian and Hungle Boy is a crowd pleaser for sure. Heel Christian is just next level. I really want him and MJF to have a "world's biggest asshole" feud at some point.

The dumpster match was wild. They really are doing all the NAO spots haha. The bump off the stage looked really fucking gnarly, much respect to them for taking that.

Kingston and Mox are boys both in real life and storyline so it would fit. Kingston vs Jericho is definitely not done despite what the marks seem to think.

I was thinking they need to either turn Rosa heel or get the belt off her. She could maybe salvage it if she just embraced the fact people are over her and turned, but I doubt she will. Toni would definitely be a better champ. Has there been a major champ with an onlyfans before?

Live rampage and battle of the belts this weekend.

I really want mox to lose the title back to Eddie at the Arthur Ashe stadium in NY and then set up him fighting CM pUnk for it continuing that feud

Or some combination that involved those three and Eddie winning it in NY

Haha my coworker just told me about this and I thought of you. He's a better fit for WWE than AEW so this makes sense all around. I wonder if Vince tried to get frisky with Scarlett (she's DEFINITELY his type) and that had something to do with the departure.

Live rampage was so-so, Mance Warner and Mox had a decent old fashioned brawl. Lots of taters and weapons. I was half asleep so I don't remember much of the rest of the show. The crowd seemed kind of worn out so hopefully that means whatever they taped for Battle of the Belts tonight was good. REALLY looking forward to Wardlow vs Lethal. Huge fan of both dudes for entirely different reasons.

Oh shit I completely forgot about the Callis thing. I was just watching the Flair thing the other day and it dawned on me that she kinda looks like Sable who has been rumored to have earned her push on her knees and I figured Vince would probably have tried it on her too.

The newest botchamania has a couple absolutely legendary Vince bits, including one of the funniest ending segments in a long time.

https://youtu.be/qmuoPmkqodM

Watched Battle of the Belts. Now I get why the crowd was a little dead for Rampage. That Takeshita - Claudio match was absolutely tremendous. 25 minutes of two big dudes just going at it with like a dozen false finishes and they had the crowd into it. Shit, they got a huge pop on a monkey flip of all things. Won't spoil the winner if you haven't watched it, but I highly recommend it.

The only bad thing was the 4 man booth is a bit of a cluster fuck but I still smile every time I hear Regal refer to Taz as "Mr. Maniac" on commentary. I don't know if I'm ever going to get sick of it.

Hayter vs Rosa was surprisingly good. I haven't quite hopped on the Hayter hype train but she's a lot better than I realized. Really solid work from her and Rosa had a good night, she only botched like 2 spots.

Sadly Lethal vs Wardlow was a bit underwhelming. I know it was mostly just an angle but I never really got into it. Would have popped so hard if Wardlow had actually power bombed Satnam. He looked almost comical setting it up, really drives home just how big Satnam really is.

I would not be surprised if HHH tries to snag Takeshita at some point. I don't know if he's under contract with AEW or its just a per appearance deal since he's on excursion, or how it would all work with DDT but he just strikes me as type of dude HHH would pop a chub over. I could totally see him going around having amazing matches with everyone, like a male version of Asuka.

Hah well one of those Rosa botches was breaking Hayter’s nose.

I don’t HHH will get Takeshita.   He probably will get locked up with Tony now if he hasn’t already.    The commentators seem like they are legit in love with him and he’s been wrestling all the top guys and main eventing and over as fuck without one promo.   Frankly, if I was Tony, I’d ship HHH Sammy and Tay.   They seem better suited for over there

I think HHH’s main concern is bringing back all the NXT guys Vince never “got”.   Raw is in Gargano-land Monday.  I’m expecting a reunion of the “Family” or whatever that gargano/Candace/indie/theory faction was.

Killer Kross back in WWE. I hope HHH doesn’t Bitch this one. Glad I caught him in NJPW.

Mance Warner is a young Terry Funk.

I’m trying to decide if I want to go to AEW Grand Slam again. I’m already going to the US Open and Dime Glory Challenge a few weeks before.

Grand Slam was cool, but the lines for everything were ridiculously long. I didn’t get to eat until 11:15 when they were filming Rampage.

I’m glad WWE isn’t dead in the water now. I’m convinced their product might end up being better than AEW with HHH running creative. Can’t wait for The Fiend and Sasha Banks to return. I also don’t think he’d botch MJF.

Somewhere in Kentucky, Jim Cornette's blood pressure just went up 50 points since you put that into the world hahaha.

Grand slam should be sick but no sense running yourself ragged. Take this year off and watch it on the couch with a joint and a pizza like the rest of us degenerates.

I guess I was wrong about WWE not changing dramatically. Johnny Ace just got shit canned and apparently Sasha and Naomi are coming back. It sounds like they actually managed to root Vince out and exile him back to his mansion where he can pump iron and longingly sniff his black tank top until we inevitably hear he's signed a contract to wrestle Flair in a hell in a cell match.

Haven't heard anything about Bray but I'm sure it's in the works too. He was making crazy money before (4 mil salary plus a cut of merchandise is what I've read) so I'm not sure how it'll all play out but I think he's gotta go back eventually. Apparently they're considering Dexter Lumis too.

Apparently Vice is doing a dark side of the ring style show called Tales from the Territories that will focus on all the crazy shit that used to happen when wrestling was still a regional game. The Rock is one of the producers so I'm guessing they won't be delving into the really crazy degenerate stuff (like the rock n roll express/Jimmy V glass table story) but whatever, I love old wrestling stories so I'm stoked.

And they def won’t be diving in to the trail of bastards Rocky Johnson left throughout Canada hah

Btw Dexter Lumis came back tonight.  It was done in what looks like a super subtle and non-WWE way.   Maybe someday I’ll get over my revulsion of the Fed, but it might take the Miz retiring first.

WWE hasn’t really held up their end of the bargain on actually trying to compete with AEW. Summerslam and the long overdue NXT bump-ups are a major move in the right direction. We may finally get to see some Monday Night Wars power moves after all.
