Is fakie an easier flatground stance?
« on: August 09, 2021, 12:52:47 AM »
Since I started skating again I've noticed that the majority of my new flatground learns are fakie, and generally most of my tricks feel nicer/cleaner when I do them fakie, and I generally can do quite a few heelflip and kickflip variations fakie that I definitely can't do regs, or my regs version is sketchier.

This year sofar I've learnt 8 new tricks, 6 of those are fakie lol (i've had a tough year with injuries so been aiming for one new trick a month but lost a lot of time getting general consistency back).

Is this an objective thing, or a subjective thing? Any other fakie-heavy skaters out there?

Yeah, I think a lot of people find that fakie tricks flip easier.  I think this is because your momentum is pushing your board up into your flick.

I find fakie tricks to be much harder to do up/over/across or into anything though.  Itís kind of disorienting.

I def feel like fakie 180 tricks tend to be a bit easier cause you're landing regs. Hence why so many people can do fakie big spins.

Fakie kickflips are the best because youíre watching the board flip the whole time and you can easily roll your ankle when you shuffle and Ollie riding fakie. Note that this will not translate to Nollie kickflips which I cannot do. they are hard.

Fakie tre feels like the easiest trick. So little effort required. Regular kick flips, why are they so hard?

Fakie always felt easier to pop over shit. Not necessarily down or across gaps

half cabs are the easiest rotation on flat for me for miles. Don't even remember learning them

depends what trick you are talking about. if you are comparing a half cab flip to a bs flip (or heel), hell yes fakie is easier. not only are you going blind, but landing switch when doing the bs flip, vs the other trick you are going sight + landing regular. i personally find fakie blind 180 flip (and the heelflip version) much easier than fs flip or fs 180 heel. but i cant do any of those tricks in anything other thna flat ground.

i personally find fakie 3 flips easier on flat, cause a lot of that trick is just leg power send and fakie make the rotation come a bit easier. i also just hardly practice 3 flips. but i have never even fakie flipped a sewer. its REALLY hard to do with that kind of speed

i find fakie heel varial and hardflip harder than regular by a long shot. i think id say the same with fakie varial flip.

as far as fakie shoves, grinds, fakie ollie, flips;

its way harder to make it look good than regular
way harder into anything, down anything, over anything, across etc.
you are probably just going a lot slower than you do regular too

pushing up switch is a lot easier than rolling away switch
