However, I have a soft spot for Ray Underhill (RIP). As a young lad I had a crush on a girl and one day she showed up with a Powell shirt with the classic Underhill graphic (the cross and chain). She got it from someone but didn't like it but she knew I was a skater and gave it to me. She had worn it before and didn't wash it so it had her smell (well mainly cigarette smoke). It was as if she had given me a piece of herself. Unfortunately I could not conquer her and got friendzoned but at least I had the shirt.

This is exactly what I wanted to hear people talk about in the post. That’s why I said who did the best with their legacy, and not ‘success’, which can be confused with money.

All of them have, to some degree, left a legacy which is fucking rad. All of them have shaped skateboarding, mostly for the better. Which kinda speaks to Stacy’s ability for picking out talent.
Even Cab, who hardly has any votes, was maybe the only vert skater to make an impressive leap to street (even if he’s followed in a weird California punk finds Jesus model).

I feel you are loosely using wealthiest athletes in the world. Tony is insanely loaded for the skateboard world and life in general, he is likely in the 0.1% worldwide, but when you start talking about Lebron, Jordan, Messi or Ronaldo (I believe all 4 have contracts/endorsements that add up to over a billion dollars). By the end of a ton of current players contracts they will have made over 250m lifetime without even knowing their endorsement earnings (Trout, Harper, Garrett Cole, etc), I'd be surprised if Tony Hawk has made that.

Tony has done insanely well, but I would be legitimately surprised if he has a net worth over 100m (before even getting into the multiple divorces).
