Worst year as a Browns fan in a minute. Was easier when I know they'd just suck, worse to get my hopes up.
And you had to go out getting stuffed into a bathroom stall by a broken down Roethlisberger one last time.
On a serious note as much as I love to be the typical yinzer and shit on the post-Tommy John version of Ben, there was no way he was losing that game. No matter what happened yesterday, no matter how bad KC blows us out next Sunday, THAT was our super bowl. It's the best rivalry in sports (so good that it has a just as successful spin-off!) and after the playoffs last year this chapter just had to end this way.
The next chapter may be very different. Kevin Colbert is apparently gone after this draft, so if he doesn't deliver us our next franchise qb for 2 decades again then it might be a weird few years. I think Tomlin is a mediocre coach and our play calling has been laughable for a few seasons now, but we have a really promising young group of skill players and defensive game changers so really all that's missing is a qb capable of putting up the points to hang with the Buffalos and KCs. Najee is the truth, Freirmuth is the reincarnation of Heath Miller, and we have 3 wrs who have shown pro bowl level talent (Johnson's snub this year was shameful).
Cleveland is in kind of a similar situation right? You guys have talent offensively but Baker and poor coaching held you back this year for sure. I don't think Baker sucks, but he's kind of the same deal as Wentz. He tries to make big dick plays with a regular guy dick. If he ever learns to just play within himself and read the game he could easily develop into a Tannehill type, but I don't think he's ever going to be "white Russ" like people were saying a while back. If you give him a dominant run game and just let him hit play action shots and occasionally scramble for a td or first down then I think he has plenty of talent and has certainly shown a high enough ceiling to win a super bowl. Basically if he's what we have to worry about then I'm not scared at all, but if he's the third or fourth thing we need to stop then he becomes terrifying.
