Funny how I never really got into Jay-Z simply because his music was never used in skate videos.

Suciu skated to Jay Z in Sabotage 3

Zared had a pretty sick part to "streets is watching" in viscous cycle.  The other song in that video was nice too.  Some old R&B.

seems like drum and bass  / electronic music is a no-no, i acutally personally made my own drum and bass beats for the video i just put out i think it actually works quite well. i think a lot of ksaters just dont care for it.

Some other tempo electronic stuff like Burial, Fourtet, Bonobo (actually has been on some vids but so much more could be) would be really dope on skate video. Rattatat was on some vids real quick could use more airplay

[close]

Yaje had a part with burial, because aws made a burial board.
Also i think Huf skated to ratatat in DVS skate more. Worked great imo.
Jungle/ dnb and also downtempo could work great i think.
I can't really imagine 140 bpm music like dubstep, maybe with some mcs like flowdan.

Also, reggae seemed like a taboo, but recently there where a couple edits with classic reggae and dub song.
[close]

I need to check that when i get home and have speakers dude ! If you could post either of those would be hugely appreciated

The one Reggae part that always forever sticks out in my mind is CARDIEL on Sight Unseen! I LOVE THAT SONG!!

Three little birds in that one element video wasn’t bad I thought (admittedly haven’t watched it in 20 years)

Makes me think of that Jason Adams part (tilt mode or enjoi?), no idea what the band is but even though I have seen it in ages I remember “eat steak eat steak eat a big old steer eat steak eat steak if you have one near”. That’s gotta be up (or down) there as far as country goes

Anybody that ever skated to MGMT. It should be punishable by life in prison.

mgmt, piss yellow white balance, film burn transitions

always backed the fuck out of palace for their track selections; roy davis jr, origin unknown, peshay, ltj bukem, n-joi, etc. guess a lot of folk arent into that and it doesnt translate as well over the pond but atleast here tunes like that encapsulate a generation. lucas and jamal skating to gabriel, fucking brilliant.

Jay Z & Foxy Brown with "Ain't No N****" for the MNC promo in "Trilogy" is biblical, and I've never been a fan of Jay. I'm acutely aware that 1996 was 25 years ago now, but it's still somewhat surprising that it's apparently esoteric knowledge on contemporary Slap.

This song is not taboo, but I want to see an LGBTQ skate part to this one.

Dunno if anybody said this but Eminem.

It would be sick to see some really gnarly nyjah level skating edited to dubstep or some other aggressive or hype electronic music.

cant think of any beatles song ever being used like as a direct song ? only one that comes to mind is the i am the walrus cover on Sorry.
[close]

There’s been a few. Gonz skated to the original walrus track in the 6040 vid. Quinn starr in the antisocial vid, I’m only sleeping. Gabriel Rodriguez in the 101 promo I think, sgt pepper. Virtual reality friends section, little help from my friends.

And Rodney Mullen in Rodney Mullen vs Daewon Song.

Here comes the sun in Ravers.

got a soft spot for Walking on a Dream, though it definitely has that "everyone and their dog used this in a garbage edit in the late 00s/early 10s" feeling to it as well

Everyone discussing country is leaving out this masterpiece

I think it'd be sick if someone skated to "Mama Tried" by Merle Haggard (AA has been mentioned and his mom was a school teacher, making him my no. 1 candidate)

Edit: I feel like Wade Speyer skated to country before but not sure...

Even though I loved them when I was younger, Linkin park would be pretty odd for a part.
Maybe one of the more hip hoppy songs from Reanimation?

Ryan Lay skated to a slowed down version of "Only You" a few years ago.
