For someone with such a deep, varied, and incredible discography across his career, Kanye West is used very seldomly in skate videos.

I wonder why Elton John hasn't been used more often.

Anybody that ever skated to MGMT. It should be punishable by life in prison.

this song seemed to be in every tweenager's edit during the early 2010s. an awful song perfectly fit for an equally awful woodward week 12 montage.

Metallica can’t be used unless you’re gonna really blow my mind. Don’t use a corny Metallica song either.

I can't remember what part it was (I think it was recent and a "legend" skater), but it was a fucking Bob Seger song. God I fucking hate Bob Seger, I don't care if it was an ironic choice or not.

Funny Marc Johnson was mentioned, he skated to a track by the Presidents of the United States of America, and PUSA simply won't work in a skate part unless it's a Jesse Alba edit (Everclear for Ben Kadow? Classic). Grant Yansura has apparently moved on.

Don't think Christian/gospel music fits anyone other than Lennie Kirk.

There's tons of songs that won't work for skating, we could go on forever. Prozzak, Sucks to be You comes to mind.

I bet this “song” would suck

you would think Nirvana would get more airplay. only parts i could think of was stefan janoski in Expedition (seemed great in that one) and also trainwreck inbloom (also good)

big takeover, isnt that on knox godoy's part on baker 2g?  :o :o

Bo Turner used Ring of Fire on Timecode so conutry is not off the table

seems like drum and bass  / electronic music is a no-no, i acutally personally made my own drum and bass beats for the video i just put out i think it actually works quite well. i think a lot of ksaters just dont care for it.

Some other tempo electronic stuff like Burial, Fourtet, Bonobo (actually has been on some vids but so much more could be) would be really dope on skate video. Rattatat was on some vids real quick could use more airplay

anything top 40 from the currently era is generally taboo, but you can go like 1 generation back and its fine (sluggo boyce on RDS FSU 2002  ;D) they also did some great stuff with madonna in that video

cant think of any beatles song ever being used like as a direct song ? only one that comes to mind is the i am the walrus cover on Sorry.

have never seen weird Al on a skate vid but i have seen parody before (CB4 on Chocolate Tour Straight Outta Locash)

Grant Taylor in the latest Nike vid.

I feel like most electronic music is kinda taboo. Trance, speedcore/ gabber, breakcore, jungle, dnb
No idea if it could work.
I remember there was recently a video where a song by the bug was used.

Yaje had a part with burial, because aws made a burial board.
Also i think Huf skated to ratatat in DVS skate more. Worked great imo.
Jungle/ dnb and also downtempo could work great i think.
I can't really imagine 140 bpm music like dubstep, maybe with some mcs like flowdan.

Also, reggae seemed like a taboo, but recently there where a couple edits with classic reggae and dub song.

Agreed. Blondey skating to Peshay in Palasonic was legendary, regardless of your feelings on Blondey himself

Float On by Modest Mouse was hereby banned from any and every skate edit made after 2004.

Side note, someone should skate to Pitbull.

Also, Kyle Nicholson would get a pass for skating to ICP if he so chose to.

I need to check that when i get home and have speakers dude ! If you could post either of those would be hugely appreciated

The one Reggae part that always forever sticks out in my mind is CARDIEL on Sight Unseen! I LOVE THAT SONG!!

I think most Burial tracks actually do sit around 140, and are basically dubstep/garage tunes? At least on Untrue.

everything listed in here will be skated to in like 5 years. if its taboo a skater is gonna try to make it work eventually. and i agree with rawb i think there is a lot of electronic dance music that makes for great edits. good footage and upbeat music both make you want to move, it makes sense they could be impactful together

BDK skated to a instrumental version of 'still the same', it wasn't that bad

Lake of Fire was great, but so was this:

Prime example of ugly on the inside, ugly on the outside.
