Front 5-0's
« on: September 25, 2021, 04:23:20 PM »
This trick eludes me, I can front tail really well and have gotten a few front smiths but I cannot front 5-0 to save my life. It feels like I don't know how to ollie when I try them. I somehow always end up under popping the grind and doing a front willy. Does anyone have any tips specifically on weight distribution, when I lean back I get no pop and feel like I wouldn't be in control, If I set up like a 50-50 though I just lock my front truck in. Any tips?

think like ur in 5050 but have all ur weight on ur back foot

helps avoid slip out and shit which more likely if u lean back to achieve the manual part

can u manual a pad? if so should feel very similar. I think it would help to try to do some nice locked-in 5050 where u can really feel the heel wheel of back truck pushed up against the coping bc thats they key

Are you trying to balance them like a manual or angled like you're doing a stand up grind on transition?

Do exactly this. It may someday lead to the overturn it to switch crook phase.

When you roll away from your first one of those, you can thank your pals.

I’m having the issue where I can do them somewhat regularly on curb high ledges, but anything higher I just can’t seem to get the pop unless I’m standing stationary and stall it. Not sure how to go about fixing that. Should also mention that I can 50-50 higher ledges no problem

I remember Gipper roasted someone for dragging their tail on 5-0s so I specifically learned them to balance. The way I learned them was to go a lil faster than comfortable, front foot just below front bolts, back foot on the tip of the tail, and Ollie barely enough to get on so it’s more of a glide into it instead of dropping down which will make you drag your tail or 5050.

Is Gip the Weck of grinds?

That's why manuals are so tough....I drag my tail on 5-0's all the time....they totally count.  Ever manual 4 inches?  5-0 4 inches....counts....

Lean back...that's the other pointer...
