Sup yall

Anybody on here have any experience with the skate scene in either Blacksburg or Christiansburg? My job is flying me out there next week to work the Notre Dame x VT game but I'm trying to get as much skating as possible done in my off time. I couldn't find that much info on the interwebz.

Also any dispensary recommendations? This will be my first time ever in a legal weed state

Have not lived there in a decade so i can’t comment on spots. They’ve developed a lot so maybe you’ll have a better chance of finding something. Wasn’t a super skate friendly campus back in the day. I could point you in the direction of some good hills to bomb though.

Rivermill was always the spot.  Little pizza spot with a basement is cool too, it’s right there in downtown but spacing on the name.

And we’re just decriminalized as of July 1st of this year, sales won’t start for a couple years  :-[

I grew up in Blacksburg. Haven’t been back in a few years though.

Blacksburg has a skatepark with a decent bowl, chode shape with 5.5’ shallow and 8’ square deep end. Christiansburg park is an ARC prefab street park but people seem to like it.

Virginia Tech campus is a gold mine for street spots. Right behind Burrus hall is a cool plaza area with some ledges, small stair sets, and manny pad. In front of Dietrich hall are some long 6 stairs and ledges. Lots of good hills on campus.

The best hill in town is on clay street. Put this address in your GPS:
906 Clay St SE, Blacksburg, VA 24060

Go checkout Greenhouse skate shop, buy a shirt.  Then go next door and eat a gyro at Souvlaki. It’s cheap and delicious.

Weed isn’t for sale recreationally last I heard. My mom needs a medical card so she can buy from a dispensary that’s like 40 minutes away.

Underground was the best bar in town but it closed due to Covid. Rivermill and the Cellar are more laid back with good food and beer. If you like loud, packed bars and college girls check out Top of the Stairs (I personally hate that place). Champs and Big Als are kind of the middle ground.
