Caliber IIIs just arrived.
« on: October 04, 2021, 03:02:08 PM »
Just got them from directly from Caliber today and it's raining here!  ::) Here's some pictures and an old Call II ad with the new Cal III ads for comparison. 8)

An old Cal II ad.

These look like they have awful kingpin clearance. No smiths on these bad boys. Might have to throw some Krux DLKs on there

What’s so special about these trucks they are probably made in the exact same Chinese factory as other trucks I mean if they cost over $50 they are all the same with a different brand. Your like those golfers that go to a pro shop and have berillium putters or something.

Frankly, I don’t see enough of a difference between version II and III to warrant spending the money to upgrade.

If you can’t get busy on version II, version III isn’t going to unlock any doors. Caliber is in the business of selling trucks. It’s all marking and promotion at the end of the day.

I bought the 44 Cal IIs because I was tired of running 50 Paris V3s in the front and 43s in the back and still getting squirrely up front at speed. I liked the stability of the Cal IIs but a little more turn would be nice. With the Call IIs I can adjust the rake by being able to flip that raked hanger is a big plus for me and now I can use any bushings I want with the removable shim.

Most people on here probably dont know jack about longboard trucks. Perhaps r/longboarding on reddit could offer better discussion.

I really like how they opened it up on the hanger around the bushing. I'm gonna leave everything just the way I got it, except I'm so gonna flip that back hanger when I take it for a test drive tomorrow on a smaller hill, if the weather clears up. Maybe this weekend we'll drive over to nearby Florida, Massachusetts and bomb Whitcomb Hill Rd after it gets dark and find out what these Cal IIIs are really all about. Welcome to The Commonwealth!

If the $1,400 Mamaskate jeans and BATB12 are any indication, we're in the nether zone my friend.

I was at a city park this weekend and there were all these longboarding dudes getting 'pitted' and they were just popping their boards off of the nose and then catching it in their hand and twirling it around like a drum major and then throwing it on the ground and jumping back on. Some would throw in a little pirouette before or after the stunt.

My friend, who is also a longboarder, said that he thought they all looked "fucking stupid".

I don't know that guy. The image is from when they used to do a World Cup Downhill Race there before Covid, where the best riders from all over the world would come to Florida, Massachusetts to compete in a sanctioned race on that road for prize money.
As for Whitcomb Hill Rd? 45 mph standing up, 70 mph in a tuck if you have leathers and a seriously good full face helmet. Over 60 is kinda the Death Zone where if you eat it bad and slide into the guard rails, that could be it for you.
Skaters who really go 'all in' on downhill, think nothing of spending $800.00 or more on Swiss precision trucks and another $1000.00 and up on leathers than need replaced occasionally, $250.- $400.00 or more for a deck? It adds up for sure but it is what it is.
and the wheels? There's at least a dozen or more companies that make downhill wheels. I use both 65 and 70mm Blood Orange 80As. I don't know what wheels the guy in the picture has. If you want to see it done well, watch any Josh Neuman video on his YouTube channel.

*This is what Swiss Precision trucks look like if you've never seen them and know this before you laugh at the price, you're betting your life on these trucks not failing. No guaranteed second chances at that speed.

Cool story, bro. I've seen that in magazines and on YouTube. It's not for me but they can do what they please, they're not bothering anyone.

Dude’s basically going to end up just talking to himself after he ends up ignoring this entire forum. Maybe there’s a Facebook longboard group you could join or have you been kicked out of all of them until you ended up here?
