Fisheye for Panasonix HC-X1500
« on: October 09, 2021, 04:09:23 AM »
Hi,
Iīm looking for a fisheye for my Panasonic HC-X1500. The camera has a 62mm thread.

I have a Century MK2 with bayonet mount for my old Canon XM2, I have removed the bayonet mount and attached some adapter rings to make the lens fit the 62mm thread on the camera. But the problem is that I canīt get the focus sharp, itīs always blurry :(

Iīm wondering if the Opteka HD fisheye or the Kapkur fisheye would work on this camera, or will there be similar focus issues?

Please help!

Not sure if it's the same on your camera, but on some of the newer panasonic cams, you need to turn on [Focus Macro] in the settings. That way it can focus on an attached fisheye lens

Thanks for the tip! I had a look, but this camera does not have the Focus Macro -feature.

I seems that the issue is that this camera has a minimum focus distance of about 10cm, so it cannot focus to objects closer than that. I tried adding all the spacer rings I could find, 12 rings, and then I could focus the image  :P

Maybe a macro filter between the camera and the fisheye could work?

Same here! Tried to mount my old opteka 37mm with a stepdown ring 62-37mm and I can't focus with the HC-X1500

Yeah, maybe a +1 macro filter would work.. see if you could get one for cheap and test it out, I'm sure a lot of people are interested in knowing

Macro filters kind of work but it's not great. I will let you continue to search a bit longer before I tell you which lens works on this camera. :)

Or you could actually be helpful and just say it, instead of pretending to be the Riddler over there.

+10 macro filter did the trick, now I get sharp focus with MK2 fisheye.

hell yeah thanks for sharing!

I just bought a consumer level Panasonic (HDC-TM900) and I plan on going Opteka, so this info might come in handy for me.

Hereīs a test clip:
https://vimeo.com/640642096

Filmed with the zoom at 0. The first clip is not scaled, second clip has been scaled to 120%.

I added two macro filters between the fisheye and the camera lens, +1 macro and a +10 macro.

I think scaling might not be the way forward with this. It might be better to just slightly crop it and then scale up because in the 2nd clip that is scaled up it doesn't seem that wide

how did you put a bayo mount fisheye on that camera? when I remove the bayo mount I can't put any adapter rings because they won't fit on the fisheye

Anyone have footage of the x1500 with a mk1 please ?
I wonder how it looks and whether the +10 macro filter deteriorates the image.

honestly i can't remember anyone here ever having a success story with the macro filters on fisheyes that won't focus. iirc most people tried it and had pretty mixed results
