Battlefield 2042

Beta was ok, I didn’t like the gunplay at all, felt like recoil was non existent. The bullet drop on sniper rifles is too flat, I reckon they will change it to something like BF4 or V on release. This recoil problem makes most LMGs and SMGS/PDW useless, everything turns into an assault rifle.
Movement was ok, hope they re-introduce the one we had in BFV. Specialists all looks the same, it’s a big problem because 3D spotting is somewhat gone so you never really know who’s on your team.
Vehicles are…weird. Tanks and IFV are fun to use but with 4 seats I’d hope we would get a driver/gunner/commander and spotter layout to really work as a team. Air vehicles don’t feel good at all, helicopters have no weight to them and jets have no speed control, dogfights are a mess. Playing bf4 again after the beta really puts in perspective how lacking vehicle physics are in 2042. I also miss attack jets, dropping bombs on camping snipers in bf4 is great fun, hopefully they reintroduce them.
The game looks beautiful, weather effects are great, the tornado is dumb but Damn it’s fun to traverse the entire map by constantly redeploying your parachute and going up and down. I like the colour palette, it’s a vibrant game, a nice change from the muddy brown FPS games have been using for ages.

These are my thoughts after playing the beta for a few days, it’s a good base and I’m sure Dice will iron out problems, for eg, BF4 had a horrible beta and rocky launch and now it’s the most solid title in the franchise in terms of consistency and flow. Overall I had a positive impression, really shaping up to be a flagship title in the coming decade, the portal thing sounds bananas as well

idk if it was lack of content or anything but thought bf5 n bf1 were noticeably better, like they havent added shit, maybe the new gadgets n shit will be interesting tho. changing attachments mid life is the gimmicky selling point they had n was p lame imo

Never really used that feature much. Sure it’s nice to slap on a suppressor when you’re in a total goatfuck and surrounded by 10 dudes but it’s really situational. One thing I forgot to mention as well is the concept of each sector being its own map doesn’t work that well IMO, I never set foot on the furthest one for instance. Most fighting occurs around the rocket and the other areas are ghost towns…

I hope they fix the sniping, was my favourite part of bf4, bf1 and bf5 and it really doesn't feel the same in this title I know it's meant to be more realistic but I loved being aggressive with a sniper instead of sitting back and waiting for people to come to me, but hopefully when the full game comes out and theres some different weapons to use it might get better.

I actually found aggressive sniping easier this time since bullet drop is almost negligible. I abused the recon338 on 4 and got used to steep drop but beta sniper felt like it had none. DMRs got buffed to the extent where snipers are useless as well, they were in accurate in bf4 and now they perform like automatic fire snipers.

FOV is fucked. Seems like you’re running 100 mph because of it and makes the enemies look minuscule even though they’re only 40 feet away. The new ammo system is incredibly dumb. The new attachment system is good in theory but it’s only going to serve as an excuse to get way less variety. Specialists ruin almost every fps game they touch if the games weren’t initially designed with specialists in mind. Battlefield was never met to have that stupid shit. It kills team play. The tornado seems gimmicky. Grappling hook should have more cool down and should only be unlocked after hitting rank 100. I was super pumped for this game but now it looks shit. I’ve never tried BF5 so I might give that a go.

I picked it up for $30 on Xbox from GameStop. Installed it last night, might be on later. Battlefield was always my preferred game, but I think it peaked with BC2.

BF1 is still going strong.  One of the best games ever made.
