Just a few takeaways from Tampa Pro 2021:

POSITIVES

+ Tampa Pro did not miss a year because of the pandemic! The 2020 edition happened right before lockdown in March 2020. That year, X Games and SLS had to be cancelled. Now they came back for 2021 without a hitch.

+ Judging was on point. Would have like to see Felipe win it if he just hadn't stepped off his board, or Kairi Netsuke for that matter. At the end of the day, the guys on top had flawless runs.

+ Really insane skateboarding all weekend. Jamie Foy and Jack Olson in best trick, bowl session, and final runs with stuff you otherwise only see in videos. Shane doing back-to-back 360 flip and switch 360 flip over the kicker was a nice flex (if you can name the pro who did this a few years ago, extra trivia points. Hint: He's a SOTY).

NEGATIVES

- Not enough international skaters due to border restrictions. Most 'international' skaters already live in the US like Axel and the Brazilians

- No live scoring was not a good change. It's always been part of the excitement to see who's in first and who can take it all on their final run.

- Pro skater commentary can be great, just look at Rowley and Hawk. But when it's all just responding to what is in front of you at face value with no context or perspective, why even bother? "Sick backside tailslide, bro!" Does that add anything?

Was just about to say, these runs are pretty shit compared to the all holy Busenitz run. They need to start giving penalties for every time people step of their boards.

Busenitz stepped off his board the same amount of times in his run that Shane and Netsuke did. They all did it once in their runs. Busenitz's run was awesome because of the flow, speed, and power of his tricks. He also packed in about twice as many tricks in his run. (This is counting his stuff on the coping because he did actual tricks rather than just axel stalls to turn around)

Facts. Not even being in the top 5 is insane, although I recognize the caliber of skating in that session was nuts. Not sure who I'd boot to put Dilo in but that's a fucking nuts manual trick to put down in a high-pressure situation like that. Saw him trying to get into it for a while and then was fucking shocked when he finally did and pulled the fakie flip out of nowhere. His nollie over the rail to nose manny across the pyramid nollie flip out into the bank during his run was also extremely sick. Genuinely believe he should be a SOTY contender this year

Thats solid run right there. Is unreal how consistent Luan is, saw him in a contest in Berlin a few years ago and is mindblowing. But still Busenitz's have something that make his run unique and impoble to beat, maybe the fast push, the fact that he is a GOAT, IDK. Was pretty impressed that day, I think that Busenitz win was the las time I saw Tampa pro Live.
