back in high school my trigonometry teacher, a preacher, always said this and I won't ever forget it:
-do not assume (in math and in life)

18 years later I bump into him when I was subbing a class and let him know how those words always stuck with me,
and he just smiled.

also,

-you suffer more in imagination than in reality.

-focus on what  you can control (or, what you think and your actions)

pretty much the whole stoic school of thought is pretty neat.
let's keep this thread going

I’m out front of my house dorkin with switch backside 90s :(  before I looked at this thread I was thinking about what my dad said to me

Ass Flea don’t worry about what’s out of your control. Rip dad I feel like he’s watching me sending me messages. I can’t even pull my junk anymore.
Can’t imagine losing my dad right now, but i have already come to terms with that rule of life.
I’m sure your old man is always watching over you, bub.
Don’t hesitate to reach out to me or any pal you trust from here for support.

This is one thing I learned about smoking, skating and life in general. Less is sometimes more

I’d you’re about to leave on a trip and don’t have time to take your garbage out, put it all in your freezer so it doesn’t rot when you’re away.
When nothing in society deserves respect, we should fashion for ourselves in solitude new silent loyalties.

You can totally just lie to little kids at the skate park and tell them you’re a professional skater.  They’ll just believe you because they’re little kids and they don’t know shit.  8)

I told some little kids I was Tony Hawk when I was 12 and they had me sign their boards. I had a Hawk board and the hairdo.
Bet those kids are still mad from 1988.

Would be sick if they actually still thought they met the real tony hawk though

Love that quote above, about suffering more in imagination than reality.

After I learned about the emotional guidance scale through the Abraham Hicks books and podcasts, it’s easier to do.

How many of us have hit our late 20s and felt some urge to grow up. Thinking that we have spent so much time on our boards, and for what?
Then we turn that thought into trying way too hard for a new career or direction, mostly for money, that isn’t us. Because that’s what counts in western culture.

Only to come back to skating a decade later because that is the thing that truly provides the deepest connection.

After turning 30, another cup of coffee is NOT the solution to your hangover. Anxiety is absolutely through the roof thinking 3 cups was the key to getting through work today

even though I don't drink anymore...
hangover cure:

-1 powerade
-1 6 inch sub
-2 glasses of water after

Did this for like 3 years, worked every time

A small glass of water between each drink and a small meal before you go to sleep is good for reducing the hangover severity by up to 50%

Regular Powerade/Gatorade is fine.. but you really should get a Gatorlyte or Roar or some other vitamin/electrolyte drink, does way more good.  One of those, some fried food, weed, and a nap on the couch while listening to some unintentional ASMR videos.

Last time I was hungover (this past Sunday), I had to fill out my annual performance review for work.  Made me feel 10x more hungover.

You can use a roll of duct tape as a vertical format phone stand. This is useful if you want to film a quick clip, but don’t want to be tripod guy.

Don't throw darts into light sockets.

Help who you can. Unless they are trying for your demise. Then cut them loose.

Anyone who tries to get you to commit crimes is not actually your friend. They are your accomplice and.... Might even be a rat.

You fuckin never know.

Control your environment as much as possible.

Forgive people but never forget violent acts. Some things are unforgivable.

Never get down with someone else's shit. Build your own art world for better or worse at least you did some shit.

If you are on some one else's planet know you're roll.

Move like a ninja to subvert the status quo though teachering.

Change must be largely positive to last. So get good at polishing turds and eating shit sandwichs.

Someday you might find a good flavour of funk

Two pennies stacked together are about 1/8” or .125” thick.  Obviously, one penny is about a 16th thick.

Ammunition, it’s about time you started taking some responsibility.  I want this whole room picked up.  When you’re done, you need to take the trash out and vacuum.

If you do peyote, tie your shoes on really tight. That way you can't easily take your pants off during the trip and end up running down the street naked.

A nickel is 1/8” thick and a dime is 1/16” thick.

If you live in an apartment complex don't meet or hangout with neighbors, less people who are in your business the happier you'll be.

This also applies to work in some cases. Be careful about who you share your personal business with, even if it’s your friends or family. If somebody is always talking about someone else, it’s likely they’re talking about you too.

Totally agree. Some colleagues can be very gossipy and two-faced. Thread carefully with what you share about yourself, and take your time getting to know fellow workers.

Additionally, be careful taking a job where a friend already works. Ethics/beliefs can clash, expectations, etc. last job i had was in a place where someone i truly enjoyed was a long time employee. After a few months i really learned what and out of touch, entitled, racist piece of work they were. Couldnt stay at the job or keep that relationship

Absolutely. I’ve had jobs with people I hung out with every day and it completely ruined the friendship. You’ll never realize how much of a shitty person someone is until it comes down to “who’s gonna make themselves look better today?”.
