Tips from experts to choose the best electric skateboards
« on: November 09, 2021, 05:16:05 PM »
Electric skateboarding is new to the skating community, but it has grown very quickly. Along with that growth comes a proliferation of skateboard companies and new  innovative e-skateboards. Many people think this will be a good deal, but it can be difficult for some people to find a suitable set up. This guide will tell you the things that you need to consider before buying an electric skateboard. Don't leave until you've finished reading this article.
Things you must keep in mind when choosing a motorized skateboard

Your budget

It is a fact that electric skateboards are very expensive, it can be up to $2000. The average price falls between 700-1000 dollars. This leads you to consider how much money you are willing to spend on this device. The bigger your budget, the more likely you are to buy a quality board. Many electric skateboard blogs like eSkateBuddy can help you shop on a budget.

Riding terrain

Defining the surface you are going to ride on regularly will help you choose the right e-board.

Each type of e-board is designed to ride on a certain terrain. Obviously, boards used for off-road purposes have different specs than those used on the city street. Wheels will be the top factor that you need to consider when choosing an electric skateboard based on terrains. If you plan to ride on city streets and smooth surfaces, small wheels are better. For off-road terrain, bigger rubber wheels will be a perfect choice.

Max speed

The motor will decide how fast the board can ride. The maximum speed of a motorized skateboard is published on the manufacturer's official website. Note that the faster the e board runs, the lower the stability is. The best electric skateboard to start with might be one with a flexy deck, solid top speed, and wheels that can absorb shocks and minimize shakiness. You can view this list of the best electric boards to have more ideas of what to choose.

Range

The battery range will determine how far you can go. If you plan to ride long distances, you need a strong battery. Weight is a factor that directly affects the range of your device. It includes the rider's weight, and the weight of the electronic, as well as non-electronic components. To increase the board range, you can install an extended range or use a faster charger to quickly charge when needed.

Drive train

Drive train or the motor system used in a powered board. Currently, there are three main types of drive train which are belt drive, hub drive, and direct drive. Let’s take a closer look at each drive:

Belt drive: the gears are attached to both the motor and the wheels. The gears are connected by a belt. When the motor spins, the belt spins and causes the wheel to spin, too. Belt-driven motors are very powerful. They can generate more torque and friction, and are very fast. However, this type of motor is quite noisy, and it will be difficult for you to kick start a belt motor skateboard.

Hub motor: Hub-motor e-boards are boards with motors hidden inside the wheels, so they are quieter than belt drives, but generate less torque and power. Hub motors are not as customizable as belt drive motors. While belt-driven eboards allow riders to change wheels whenever they like, hub motors don't.

Direct drive: This type of motor system is quite new. They operate similarly to hub motors, but instead of hiding the motor inside the wheels, direct drives have the motor installed right on the inside of the wheels and mounted onto the trucks, bringing the motor close to the ground. This causes debris and rock to hit the motor and damage it.

Portability

Electric skateboards are usually large and heavy because electronic components are often heavy. The weight of the board is what commuters or people who often have to carry their boards around are most concerned about. In case you already have a board that is too big and heavy, you can use a backpack, shepherd's hook, or other carrying tools to support you.

Battery size

The battery size has a direct effect on the range of the electric skateboard. The larger the battery, the longer the board runs, and vice versa. This raises a concern as it increases the total weight of the board. And too big batteries probably won't be allowed on board. You can simply use medium batteries, and a fast charger to maintain the board range.

You'll find everything you need on eSkateBuddy - a leading blog on electric skateboards. Take a moment to check this blog out, you will learn a lot of useful things.

So this article has covered the basics that you need to consider when it comes to choosing a powered board. Hope you found this article helpful. If possible, please share this article so more people will know.

I think grabbing further back and boning things out a bit would help at first. Also, just feel it out stationary to get comfortable with how it should feel.

Try a few early grabs to get the feel of it.

You can also grab and then tuck mid air. You don't necessarily have to wrap your arm around the knee before you grab. Watch some 80s vert slow mo clips.
