Sydney

This is basically an extension of a thread I made earlier regarding skate scenes in Oz. I'm gonna be headed to Sydney in 2022 for uni and I'm wondering what people have to say about skating there (as well as other things like weather, night life, socializing, chicks lmao, etc.)

For reference I'm probably gonna be living in Glebe if things go according to plan (I saw the revamped park there and it looks so fucking sick). The parks in the area all look so nice, especially Fernside, glebe and that little "tech park" with lights until 11. If anyone has any input I'm all ears!

Don't really know much but
Weather: not that cold in winter unless you're out at 3am and still almost never drops below 0C, a cold day is probably like 10-15C.
Summer is fucked tho but if you're in the city/ near the coast it's not so bad. Prepare for smoke. Go west towards the mountains it will get significantly hotter. Have sunscreen and water. If you feel like your starting to get burnt or dehydrated then it's too late you're fucked.
Spring rains a decent amount.

Socialising/chicks: talk to people at uni, say hello to other skaters? Dunno really. Most people in Aus are pretty easy going.

We call French fries chips and potato crisps chips. Flip flops thongs and the underwear thongs. Nobody has ever been confused by this. Ever. Australians are both blunt and subtle. You'll just get used to it/figure it out as you go. Only really gets tricky of you can't tell if someone's being an asshole (or arsehole as we say) in a friendly way or they actually don't like you. Either way doesn't really matter because nobody has guns.

I've actually been living in Brisbane for the past year so I think I'm used to the heat and cultural differences at this point? It'll be interesting to see how different Syndey is to Bris I think?

Sydney is a whole different beast to Brisbane, you'll get a good feel being in glebe for just how fucky and up-their-own-arse Sydneysiders are. T. Sydneysider who misses Brisbane

One thing you have to do: come up to Katoomba and skate the surf club!
