It's easier on a higher Manny pad(within your ability) than say a curb high one.

Agree about trying them on higher pads. Put your weight farther toward than you think you need to. I feel like they're easier to clean up if you snowplow/fall forward rather than if your back truck is dropping. Don't worry if your back wheels clip on the way out, the pop out starts to make more sense after a while trying them.

This, plus:
  • Front foot in pocket, always.
  • Consciously guiding with the front arm can help.
  • Focus on being in Nose Manual, on the pad, before and when popping. Like, full-on visualization.
  • Getting out without clipping works like nosebonking (?) a crack in the ground.
  • There is more but I am drunk.

EDIT: Something that has def improved mine is that I kept doing them on flat ground. Like, when I have a low day I'll try to do very long ones, or try to get from A to B as slow as possible, go over cracks, little challenges. I see a lot of people who can do them on pads without having a solid stance/balance, probably since most pads are rather short.

above all else

do not bother practicing stationary

better off just actually trying it on a medium/large pad

i find the taller obstacles allow you to be more light on your landing and keep your balance where you need it
oh my god im not fucking racist im not homophobic im not transphobic

Trying to relearn standup fs 5-0s on transition properly.  I can grind for only about a foot no matter how fast I go. Its really getting to me because I want this in my bag so I can do them all over the place at any park.

Theres a huge gap from lot to lot thats big enough that Id have to be towed. I work on airplanes so after work my coworkers tow me around thinking Im just dicking around but Im actually getting used to popping my board at 20 mph.
