didn't take it as a diss, tbh i don't really care. i just don't hear or see the similarities. no idea how you get rhcp 'scooby doo california' or 311's 'amber' or whatever to any of the tracks on their album. the only 90s influence that may be apparent would probably be siamese dream era pumpkins.

that's an interesting comparison, i'm not sure i'd make the connection there because billy was kind of whiny. for me there felt a late 80s vibe like suicidal tendancys, or bad brains, etc... but then the singer harmonizing the way he does brings it closer to peppers or faith no more but mostly in the approach not that you'd mistake one band for the other. just an easier way to describe it to my wife.
