Certainly finished strong here. Courthouse Nollie FS flip was heavy.
Only thing missing from his SOTY campaign is a Thrasher cover. 3 parts and no cover would be a little questionable for a SOTY.
[close]

I know it's been decades since then but Chris Senn won SOTY without ever getting a Thrasher cover including the issue that announces he got it.
[close]

Is this actually a thing? Never really considered the cover aspect, have all the other SOTY winners gotten a Thrasher cover during the year they won? (Not including the actual issue announcing the winner)

besides milton and mason, nobody has had a cover the year of winning since ave. and even before that, wes and ishod didn’t have one the years they won either. i’m sure there’s lots of other years that were just the same.

since 2010 every soty got a cover the year they won. Except wes...

Mason - ollie into double bank
Milton - kickflip carwash
Tyshawn - ollie the subway entrance
Foy- fs crook el toro
Kwalks - giant kickflip
AVE - over the back sw 5-0
Wes -
Ishod - kickflip back lip gap to rail
Daveed - 5050 kink rail to drop
Grant - 30th anniversary and kotr cover
Leo - Smith red rail with huge drop

This is the reason I still think Jack O Grady has a shot if he releases something soon.

The only negative thing I have to say:

Did I miss something about the feeble at the 1:36 mark?
He reps Alien Workshop alot.  Alien graffiti in background.  I thought it was a beastly enough feeble on its own but maybe the alien nod kept it in the part

Gotta love that West Coast excellence splattered all over those east coast spots. Love to see it. Mmm mm mm!

Atiba posted a Insta story a few days ago of a photo of Suciu with the caption 'great session' with a mind blown emoji and piano music playing the background. Suciu had a photo of him at Atiba at a six stair hand rail in LA. Obviously just a guess, but I wonder if Suciu was going for a cover shot. Thrasher will probably show one more cover before SOTY is announced, so I think there is a chance Suciu still does get a cover that comes out with his new mega part.

I know it's been decades since then but Chris Senn won SOTY without ever getting a Thrasher cover including the issue that announces he got it.

i think this precedent started with MJ, so that's been fourteen or fifteen years and wes is still the only SOTY without a cover that year

anyways yeah mark has another part coming soon

Courthouse to Blubba was so spicy. Also loved that he ripped a switch front 180 off the second drop, so few people have done anything off the second drop aside from him.

That being said, I’m also liking his skating less and less these days. That second line was brutally calculated and rigid feeling. Like, just ease up and cruise around man, not everything is a fuckin literary math equation. You don’t have to ollie on to each little step because you can, just push and look fluid instead.

You didn’t see his adidas part? I feel like for him that was more just skating getting clips, less calculated. I think choreographing crazy lines is whats fun to him tho and I’m not mad at it.

Mark had a cover his true SOTY year 2019. He deserves it this year too but not as much as 2019.

Great skateboarding. Surprised nobody is talking about how uninspiring that song/edit was. Mack Scharff produces very boring edits, in true modern DLX fashion. This could have been a seriously special video.

I thought he has been doing a fairly decent job recently, but I agree on this edit.

One of the best to ever do it, just an outstanding part.
Got so excited when I realised he was linking the courthouse to blubba in a line. I know now it's been done before but I have never seen that shit.

If Suciu can put together a shared part with Max Palmer at the Canal Fountain spot by the end of the year he’ll have my SOTY vote easy.

That was a real treat. I know people can't help but be extra judgmental towards those that are at the top of the game, but I really don't get the talk about him having bad style.

Sure, he's not going to be my first choice when I want to watch ~style~ skating, but he's constantly doing difficult and awkward tricks in a nearly impeccable way. He could use some help in the clothing department, but that's apart from his actual body movements.

Yeah, he should have just done 50-50s on it. Front 50, back 50, nollie front 50, nollie back 50, switch front 50, switch back 50, fakie front 50, and a fakie back 50. That would have made so much more sense.

Loved the Robert Levon Been song and the cab/nollie fs 180 flip into courthouse. Some lengthy lines in there to say the least

Courthouse to Blubba was fucked

SOTY is a no brainer this year if you ask me

Surprised he let himself back 180 out of the backtail to 5-0 on Blubba hehe

To settle the cover debate, hopefully someone shot a photo of the Nollie FS Flip into Courthouse. Throw it on the December issue and profit

Wait, no joke, wink-wink, or really no joke? I suppose it does look like you would be trying to grind the side of a baseball.
